Hold This Thread While I Walk Away

Good luck Matty. Hopefully, you won’t need surgery but even if you do it is only a minor setback.

Damn Matty…fucking bicep, you were on your way to nailing that lift. Great showing at your meet. I’m sure you will be back at it in no time.

Good luck at the Dr. today.

Hoping for a speedy recovery.

I’m just catching up. I’m sorry for the injury, it looked like if hurt like hell. Judging from where you’ve come in the past, I know you should recover well.

Thanks everyone for all the well wishes, my MRI results showed a complete tear of the distal tendon, and also showed a nodule on the bicep which is further going to delay what seems to be the inevitable. I have an ultrasound on the bicep tomorrow to figure out what this “nodule” is, im not too concerned its probably nothing.

What I dont understand is the relatively low pain Im in, I was able to Incline Bench 225x3x10 and then repped out on the Hammer Strength Incline with 3pps per side with no issues at all. I could of went heavier but didnt want to risk it. I can supinate and pronate my hand with no issues, all the bruising is gone. I even did 1 arm t bars for high reps with no issues at all.

I dont know, what I do know is Im gonna stop looking at youtube videos and google fooing torn distal tendon.

Ill keep yall updated

Good luck to you for a successful recovery.

Just checking in, good meet, bad injury. Heal up.

Just catching up on this thread. Decent meet results and sorry about the injury Matty. Just hang in there, speaking from personal experience you can certainly make a full recovery and get back on track. It took me a year to recover from my torn IT band but I’m back and string as ever.

What’s with the possibility of surgery on the shoulder? Do you have issues there too?

heal up my friend.

good meet.

Matty give us an update my friend. Plenty of people wondering how you are doing.

Hope all is well Matt.

Thanks Brother!

Hey everybody a quick update, I decided NOT to get the surgery, the MRI showed a full distal tendon tear, in my last meeting with the ortho, who would have done the surgery I asked him flat out, “what if I dont get the surgery” he advised that superficially I would see a difference and some loss in supination strength but advised that Benching, Pulling and squatting should not be a problem. Well when he advised that coupled with the fear of being out of work with half pay I decided not to do it. Is it the right decision, only time will tell, but since the injury I have

Pulled 500 with a mixed grip, Bench 315x2, with no issues. Squatting is not affected at all. I have committed myself to pulling only with a hook grip, I pulled 495 today with hook grip, its gonna be an adjustment but in the long run, I may be stronger with it.

I hope everybody is killing it, my job is still blocking the site!

Hey Matty! Yeah surgery is not to be taken lightly, which you know, not to mention that you’ll still be able to lift, which is great news.

I certainly don’t have as many plates on the bar as you  but the only way I know how to hold a bar is with the hook grip. You’ll get used to it, I mean look at all the weight you are pulling with your injuries, pfft. I just feel like I have to worry about one less thing when I use it, like the bar isn’t going to do something unexpected. But if memory serves me, I certainly didn’t like it at first.

Surgery suckssss.

Way to tough it out Matty. Keep working hard.

Glad to see you will be fine without the surgery and your numbers are looking strong. Tell your boss you need your time to blog to give your mind creative space so you can be more productive at work. If boss doesn’t laugh then your’re golden.

Okay…we’re holding the thread. But you need to start walking back this way!

Give us a yell and let us know how things are going.

Hey Everybody! Long time!

I hope all is well with everyone…just wanted to give a quick update…had my first meet since tearing my bicep, which I never got fixed…overall a success, totalled 1400, 500 Squat 330 Bench and 570 DL, 7 for 9. 600 DL failed at the knees, Ill get it next meet. Here is some vids if anyone is interested…

So good to see you back, Matty! And so glad that the bicep tear didn’t sideline you for too long. Looks like you’re right back at it.

Nice work Matty! Glad to see you got back on the platform. 570 moved fast. How much did you weigh in at?
