Hitting the Road on Friday

Congrats on the new gig AC.

Thanks guys! I’m moving into my shack tonight. I HAVE to post pics for you guys to believe this shit! LMAO I’m not sure what my interwebz situation will be for the next few days while I figure everything out, but I’ll check back in on Xmas or so with funny pics and an update. I have to hike through a swamp to get to the shed - it’s priceless.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone!!!

Is that your place out yonder? Behind the birdhouse?
LMAO - you found it!

Happy belated holidays, everyone.

Sorry I’ve been MIA for a bit. I have to drive a half hour for internet and I’ve been busy after work making the shack more “liveable”. Been working 12 hour days at work with only xmas off (making some SERIOUS loot!). The shack is interesting - last night a pack of fucking coyotes rummaged through my campsite at two in the morning! There must have been about 30 of them at least (sounded like a lot more). I was asleep and I heard the high pitched yapping/barking in the distance and thought I must be dreaming, but as the sound increased in intensity, I woke up. As it got louder and louder a farmer nearby starts shooting off his shotgun! Which promptly drove them MY way! So I was inside my shack (pics to follow) and perfectly safe, but I wasn’t about to open the door to a pack of hungry wild coyotes! A few of them scratched at the door and they managed to knock over my Coleman cooler and eat my food (fuckers ate about two pounds of bacon!), but other than that everything else seemed OK. Gotta luv living in the woods… I think I’m going to get some firecrackers that I can light and throw out there for the next time they come - that ought to scare them off.

So to follow is a “scenic tour” of my humble abode. Enjoy.

Here is the road to my place. It’s a few miles west of Broussard in the fucking sticks. I pass cows and horses on the way there.

Here’s where I park the car. I’m standing on the edge of the path looking away from the woods.

There’d better be some green and orange shag carpeting and a heart-shaped waterbed in that shack…
Working on that! Perhaps a really SMALL waterbed - I’m only working with 8’ x 12’!

at which point I don my trusty boots an put on my head-lamp to trek fearlessly into the deep, dark forest!

The beginning of the path starts off friendly, but there are several swampy sections - it’s about 150 yards in.

Pics of wildlife if possible, please.

Finally the outline of the shed appears in the distance… (I normally don’t see it like this - I took these on xmas during the day, I always get home at night)

Patience, my dear tiger - I actually DO have pictures of wildlife coming…

Well boys and girls, break out the champagne, cuz PAPA GOT A JOB!!!

Seriously - I am so fucking relieved right now!

I went to Office Depot this morning, printed out 20 copies of my resume, the third door I knocked on hired me on the spot. They sent me out for my physical and piss test around noon and I was drilling holes in a stainless steel control panel by four. It’s a small electrical controls company that does a lot of service work as well as rotational shift work.

So it looks like I’ll be staying in Lafayette for a while.

FUCKIN’ A!!!
Well that was easy! We’ll put the beer “on ice”.

And here it is! My new home! The Front is wood planks framed out with a real door from the store, and the rest is corrugated galvanized steel over a wooden frame. On the side is what used to be a chicken coop, but the coyotes ate all the chickens several years ago.

We’ll have that beer soon, bro!
No doubt. I drive through your new town a couple times a year to visit amigos in Baton Rouge, it’ll be easy to tack a day. If you haven’t yet, try some boudain and cracklins.

Congrats, man!
