Lil’ Wayne sucks.99% of commercial rappers suck. The shit I hear on rap stations these day’s is pathetic and borderline distressing. The best new “commercial” rapper out is Lupe Fiasco, by far.
Ain’t what he used to be. I love Weezy, but he’s at his best on mixtape shit, commercially it’s hit or miss.

Yes, this.
This track is heavy.

well no one can tell someone else who the best is, its simply a personal preference, to each his own, people who start wars on this are simply ignorant,
if you base it on recent sales then yes he is the best.
And to put in my personal opinion, is he overrated? maybe, but certainly not as overrated as 50cent was, or Jay-Z was and still is (there are lil wayne haters out there for sure, but sometimes i actualy do think im the only one that never really understood all the jayz hype, he is definetly the most overrated)[/quote]
I think your missing the point, Lil’Wayne is selling himself as part of HipHop yet he consistently pumps out pop tracks with meaningless lyrics(i wouldn’t describe them as bloody rhymes!).
I would listen to 50 or Jay Z anytime over LW.
Its not about hating on someone, i’m just expressing my sincere verdict that his music is shite.
I’m allowed to express my opinion.
Also he looks weird. When i was growing up listening to 2pac, Nas, Biggie, Snoop Dogg, Grandmaster Flash & the FF, Dr Dre, Big L, Big Pun, Wu Tang, Naughty By Nature and so on at least they were cool!

Desire was released a little over a year ago.
Radio “hip-hop” is terrible. Granted Kanye is a decent producer but as an emcee he’s just awful.

+1
Some of the bass lines in Lil Wayne’s songs are pretty cool… but that’s about it in my opinion.
I love Dr.Dre, Eminem, 2pac (some stuff atleast), DMC, Snoop Dogg, Fort Minor (although admittedly… hearing about how hard Mike Shinoda had it in every song… gets old really freaking fast) and a few others. Kanye West is hit or miss for me… I like a few of his songs… but others just annoy me.
Biggie, DMX, Luda, 50, the Game, KRS1, NWA
It’s the unfortunate effect of the ringtone rap generation. Pissant little faggots who think ringtone rap is music. What studio executives don’t realize is that most of them wise up and learn what real music is.
And yeah, who’s better?
Lupe Fiasco
Kanye West
Nas
Jay-Z (not right now though)
Dr. Dre
Eminem
2 Pac
Notorious B.I.G.
Snoop Dogg
I’m not hatin’ on Lil Wayne though, but it’s like someone else pointed out - hit or miss. Mostly miss.

“with they pens and pencils
The same ones that took away his voice and just left his instrumental”
Oh…and this thread is not complete without a nod for Bun B.

I’d post my favorites, but for the most part, I’d just be called a backpacker.
So, I’ll cinch up my straps and back out of this thread…
lil wayne is horrible , i have a burnt out friend who says lil wayne is dope cuz of all the codein he drinks. i heard his newest cd aint nothing but drugged up ramblings.
old song but the mob figaz put out good music
Sorry, but you can’t really even compare Lil’ Wayne to people like Kanye, Lupe, even Common. Yes, they all make ring-tone jams, but Lil’ Wayne makes his shit for bumping in cars or playing at parties. For what it is, I like it. Comparing Nas and Lil’ Wayne is like comparing Elvis and The Beatles: It can’t be done.
Thank you. I always thought that little Wayne sounded like he had a speech impediment or something. He has almost no good songs at all.
I always hear this and that about Lil Wayne and him having ghost writers. I wouldn’t be surprised if the tracks that hit he’s had help on and the one’s that don’t are pretty self evident. I’ve never heard anything from him that ever got me going.
When’s the last time you kept rewinding a track going “Damn, did he really say that?”
i like wayne, i like lupe too but theyre different things and you have to respect them for what they are.
i mean music is music but theres different kinds of music and hip-hop is hip-hop but theres different kinds.
like alcohol is alcohol but you wouldnt compare a merlot to a sam adams and you wouldnt compare a sam adams to a whiskey. i mean you could, but youre comparing different things or apples and oranges as the saying goes.
as for me i havent even been fucking with much rap lately. just punk, metal, and techno. or some kind of combination of the three.
Lil Wayne has a terrible voice and his only good songs have other singers who carry him through.
You can’t honestly say his voice is decent…it is the worst rapping voice I have ever heard in my life period. I can’t even understand what the fuck he is saying.
