yeah, let’s just sit around and prepare for another attack instead of doing something about it.
And if you can’t find a link between 9-11 and Iraq, then you got issues, man.
what i think we should have done was launch an investigation to see who actually did it. find out the exact person, put him on trial, and give him a nice jail sentence (no death penalty…that’s inhumane). we should also ignore other countries/groups that plan and train for similar attacks. we shouldn’t do anything until there is proof beyond a reasonable doubt that they did in fact break the law. while we wait for those attacks, we should prepare for them as much as possible here in the US. actively preventing these attacks is wrong, inhumane, terroristic, emperialistic, fascist, etc.
There already IS an investigation to see what happened on 9-11.
Except the Bush white house isn’t cooperating with the investigation. They are not giving up documents, to the point that investigators are ready to subpeona the white house.
The excuse given is “executive privelege” over these documents. Except executive privelege doesn’t apply.
I bet you are a big FOX news fan. FOX watchers have the most misconceptions about the war and are the least informed (tied with CBS).
Morg realizes that liberals NEVER have solutions to problems involving national security…they just criticize anything thats done in the name of security.
If the demoncats can’t see the connection to terrorism that Iraq is clearly linked to, its because of politics.
And all this talk about protecting the homeland that liberals are whining about???..as soon as we start trying to crack down on terrorism here in this country the dimocrat/liberals cry “racial profiling” and “loss of our liberties” although NO ONE that I know of has lost any liberties. Its a red herring.
I disagree with your statement on Fox news. People who watch Cartoon Network are the most misinformed about the war. I was talking to my 5 year old niece and she didn’t know what the fuck was going on in Iraq. Talk about clueless.
Considering the record of the Clintonian regime on the military, I would have to say: Politics, completely two-faced politics as well. Billary has a well-documented disdain for the military from the personal attacks on military personnel(restricting military personnel from wearing uniforms while in the White House. Even the 8th and I guys had to change where they stood to adjust to the new anti-military standard.) to the Peace-Dividend downsizing (ie., we have no enemies therefore we need no military) to the horrible execution of military operations (The exit from Somalia. I have very close friends who were Marines involved in that operation and they would have been happy to stay there and do something about the warlords. Instead we abandoned people who were already starving because no one was making sure the food wasn’t being garnered by the bastards with big guns.)
So… to conclude my rant, fuck Hitlery.
She can go and get herself pounded by those UN pencildicks she’s so fond of. People who are/were only interested their own gains. (France, Germany, and Russia and the abuse of the oil-for-food programs to the tune of billions.) If we are in it for the oil, at least the Iraqis will get some of the spoils rather than be ground under the heel of a UN-supported dictator while Gerhard Schroeder jerks off to the tunes of peacenik bitches.
Lumpy, you are right in that the military exists to serve the needs of the nation, but you are way off base in the condescending tone you use. They do a job which is vital to our security, and can be very hazardous at certain times. To assume that they are merely a tool to be used and discarded based on prevailing popular whim is a terrible position to take.
Lumpy, I believe in respect. Respect for people and what they do. Wearing the uniform in the military is not only part of the job it is a source of pride. It is a badge showing the sacrifice one person was willing to make for the sake of others. I wouldn’t ask the female senators to wear dresses, as pants are really for men anyway. I choose not to denigrate anyone. I give the respect they deserve through their actions. Whether you like it or not the military has a purpose, and they deserve the respect of each and every person in this country. No one must cowtow or act out of appeasement, but they should respect.
I was a pragmatic liberal as I left high school. I still believe that we are, as a world, closer to peace than at any time in the past. Why? Economic infrastructure. When people can trade with each and achieve a better life than they could before they were able to trade they are far less likely to make war.(Barring fanaticism, of some sort.)
So, why make war with Iraq? Saddam abused the power of his country throughout his regime. If you choose to do some research about it you would find that the largesse that he and his party were privy to was appalling. All of that largesse was taken from the mouths of the politically unpopular starving masses for which we were blamed.Instead they should be the center of a bustling free economy. There are some regimes that will tear themselves apart ala Iran. There are some that will not, e.g. Iraq. (Incidentally, Saudi Arabia is changing dramatically politically as well. Why? Because the people are finding that their gov’t doesn’t work and the House of Saud is scared shitless of a bloody revolt because of this.)
Hillary has spent more time in Iraq and Afghanistan than Bush has. She actually met some real Iraqis, she didn’t just hang out at the airport posing for the cameras with a spoon full of mashed potatoes.
She’s got bigger balls than Bush does…
I’m glad that Bush’s visit got the boys morale up, but a visit from John Tesh would have done almost the same thing.
Lumpy, you are moron. Maybe the reason bush was there for a little while was that Arab terrorists want to kill him, whereas the only people that want to kill hillary are right minded Americans.
lumpy, kuri, and the rest…
Please, Please, Please write to hillaryclinton and encourage her to run in 2004!!! I beg you!!! Tell her to “save the democratic party.” Tell her, “You are our only hope.” Please tell her how “stupid” George W. Bush is.
I’m going to enjoy watching dean get embarrassed. I would DERIVE ACTUAL PHYSICAL PLEASURE from watching hillaryclinton run for President against George W. Bush.
