Hiked barefoot for a good portion of this due to godawful blisters from borrowed boots. Would do it again for sure.
Have you ever tried the trick with silk socks worn underneath wool socks? Wicks away moisture, provides padding, and the friction happens between the socks, not your skin.
But barefoot hiking is dope also.
Sounds brilliant!
Should make a note of that. Maybe even for trail running in light shoes?
I’m not a a trail runner, but I imagine the concept could work for that. As long as the first sock is slippery and the second one is rough. You could do nylon and cotton, for example. Those would be thinner and let you tie your shoes tighter.
I know that look. It’s the look of a kid who’s thinking about burning one of those crayons right after he sees what happens to the banana peel.
I already taught him how to make a crayon candle. School called.
Went for a quick stomp through the woods on a fishing excursion. Woke up the next morning an felt what I thought was a pimple at the top of my hamstring and crease of my ass, tick. Bastard broke off. My wife had to tweezer the head out. Now that’s love. “Honey, can you get the tweezers and rubbing alcohol? There’s a tick in my ass.”
This thread needed to be bumped.
So, people who partied with criminals and got rides home at 3 AM from strangers, what’s your most recent hike?
Me?
Mine are pretty limited these days.
Present!
Went back to my favorite rock yesterday with two Michelob Ultras and a tiny bit of weed and spent probably an hour - maybe more - goofing off. Tried a couple of new sitting rocks, climbed and clambered around with the dog. Husband rearranged the forest a bit because he’s funny that way and also we’re wilderness voyaging with an elderly dog. Offered my approval for his fine work.
Pretty tame relative to my misspent youth, but there it is.
I never engaged in the misdemeanors outlined above, but I am currently at the tail end of a trip to the west of Ireland and to Iceland.
And
A trip to Iceland is on my bucket list! I’m jealous. Great pics!!
Autumnal Albuquerque. I wasn’t truly in the wilderness, but the trees and dirt paths were a nice change. The water is the mighty? Rio Grande.
Very pretty area. My buddy used to work on a ranch in southern Colorado and the Rio Grande flowed through his backyard. It looked a lot like your pictures.
