Amen to that! It is a rather silly notion that any of us could possibly judge another’s understanding of, or relationship to the Divine – at least with any accuracy. I mean, who knows what’s God’s plans are for other people, right? The details are between them and God. It’s not like He sends out a daily status report on everyone, ya know? I don’t think we even get to see the full plans for our own lives, let alone someone elses!

Does Shakespeare need to be taught at high school level though? I mean as an immature 16 year old I didn’t have a chance in hell to appreciate it.

I was taught it in jr. high school, and loved it.

Kids used to be taught latin and ancient greek as part of a formal education. Granted, that was a long time ago, but the takeaway point is that kids will grow to fit our expectations of them.[/quote]

Raj, I read some in high school. My first exposure was to Romeo and Juliet and I wasn’t a huge fan so I was kinda turned off. Then I read Macbeth and Hamlet and really enjoyed those. He’s written so many different things that you may like something that you haven’t read yet.

Pillar and Bulwark. The truth shall set you free.

Very cute Christopher. Just like this guy. Good thing he didn’t have some of these women around here for a mother or he’d be dead right now.

Too much? What do you mean?

The reason par excellence I find porn offensive is because it is boring. It is absolutely as far removed from being extreme as brown paper. I actually find brown paper pretty extreme relative to porn. Anyway,

Regards.

He’ll ban porn but have no problem reading stories filled with rape, genocide and murder from the OT to a child.

His goal is to marginalize non-Christians as much as he possibly can.

…how does he do that? Evidence?

He aims to minimize all things that do not align with Christian values.

Access to contraception

Access to Pornography

his disproval of separation of church and state.

Denial of gay rights.

Us non-Christians do not have any problems with these things. If you are Christian and do not like these things, do not partake in them.

You mean he doesn’t want to force the Church to pay for someone’s contraception.

No clue what you’re talking about.

You’ll have to give me some quotes on this, everything I’ve seen he’s very much separation of Church and State.

And, what gay rights are those?

Even as a non-Christian I had problems with several of these things. What does being a Christian or non-Christian have to with anything?

I think he’s referring to an old audio clip of Santorum saying JFK’s speech on separation of church and state made him sick. I agree with him. Separation of church is a liberal invention - it was made the law of the land by a five to four ruling in Everson v Board of Education led by Hugo Black - a former Klansman and notorious anti-Catholic bigot:

The founders only intended that no official state religion/denomination be established by the government. Anything beyond that is pure invention.

Though Santorum’s positions that he lays out move him beyond the no official state religion place I’d imagine.

Even run through a bunch of PR they are going to seem fairly radical to much of the voting population.

Porn I threw out as a solid hijacker, and it is. It like the no embryonic stem cell, the don’t ask don’t tell etc will gain him a lot of points with the evangelicals in the primaries. It also forces his opponents down this path which largely they likely don’t want to go.

Though I will stand by the fact that fighting the war on porn he proposes is certainly futile, likely treads fairly close to a mix of religion and state. It definitely increases the size of the government in an area that imo personal choice of adults should clearly prevail.

I find his willingness to openly declare war on islam to be refreshing since I feel that radicals of every stripe are just waiting for their moment.

It would certainly take an amazing string of unfortunate events to make him electable in any general election however.

He also has an amazing way to turn a phrase sometimes to make it sound much more horrible than anything he actually thinks.

I don’t know what you mean. So long as he is not sanctioning a denomination/religion as an official state religion then I don’t see what anyone is talking about.

There’s nothing radical there.

It’s got absolutely NOTHING to do with church and state. A nonsense argument. Is banning hard drugs a church and state issue now as well? What next?

A sly attempt to compare him to Islamic fundamentalists. Sad.

Just can’t find anything “radical” he says so it’s the way he says it see? Sadder.
