High prolactin (lab results)

For a long time I thought my e2 was out of whack. Turns out it is low, at a dosage of .07mL/day (.175mg) of letro. Perhaps it is high normally but this current dosage simply has taken it too low over time.

What I have been suspecting for a while and what I have now confirmed through lab work is that my prolactin is too high. I have had low libido for as far back as I can remember (since 14/15, am now early 20s) and in the rare cases when I do feel up for sex, I can not go another round until much later. Prolactin is related to e2, with higher e2 typically related to higher prolactin from what I have gathered (although far from always).

I am glad that I have some lab work. In the near future I will get thyroid work, as I am somewhat under the impression that I am at the very least sub clinical hypothyroid. My TSH has ranged from 1.6 to 2.4. At best this is simply the difference between different times of collection. At worst, it is an early marker of Hashimotos. I have done IR last spring, and I have been taking 12.5mg iodoral per month since then. I have also recently added in selenium + vitamin E.

With all of that being said, I will not take any letro for a while. I have been on this dosage for roughly 6 weeks, so it will probably take a while to clear out. I have read that some people have their e2 vary wildly on letro/adex, so hopefully this is an accurate snapshot and I am not one of those cases.

My question is basically: what can I do to lower prolactin. Dopamine agonists are a very dangerous breed of drugs to play around with and if one looks around on the internet they will find that there are stories of people permanently messing up their neurochemistry due to them.

It may seem slightly off topic, but there is someone named Ray Peat who has a carrot salad (google it) that apparently helps strongly with hormonal issues by effectively clearing out the intestines. I will be doing this meanwhile.

As a slight side note, I know that masturbation can effect prolactin readings and for my test it was about 36 hours since the last time I did it (perhaps TMI).

I have attached lab results and will attach e2 (6.4) in the next post. My prolactin is also at 14.6 ng/mL

Here is the e2 and prolactin included.

It’s actually pretty weird that when my e2 is low, I look much more jacked/defined. Even though I haven’t stepped in a weight room for quite a while, my body looks fairly cut and vascular. Perhaps I simply haven’t been low for long enough, as I know eventually I start to hold a ton of water and things become uncomfortable.

bump for KSman or someone else who is knowledgeable

With prolactin high and e2 going to rise now that I will be off AI for a while, it should be interesting to see how things progress.

I have changed up my diet quite a bit and it’s a bit unconventional but hopefully it will provide some changes.

Will probably need to get on some sort of thyroid hormone soon and hopefully I can do this through an endo if I can find a good one.
