High Blood Pressure on Test

I have been on testosterone cypionate for a month. I take 100mg per week. My blood pressure is 140/90, it used to be 120/ 63. Is this normal?

Your hormones haven’t reached a steady state yet, so your hormones are in flux. Normally if your body could handle normal high testosterone naturally, you wouldn’t expect to see blood pressure increases.

This could be your body trying to adapt to exogenous T, and is common when first starting TRT.

Too much missing info, pre-TRT levels, height, weight, lifestyle and current medical problems all of which can contribute to side effects on TRT.

I am 61 very active and healthy. My test levels were around 250 which is low, but not low enough for the military to prescribe. I am 190lbs and 5’8" with around 25-28% body fat.

Take a look. Major changes when you go on Test. Older guys need to be especially careful.

Can you give me the Reader’s Digest version of the documents? I am taking Potassium, Magnesium and Vitamin C to try to lower my blood pressure and drinking a lot more water.

If you fail to get blood pressure under control and it’s a mild elevation, if you’re not on daily Cialis already, that would be my first recommendation. I saw my blood pressure (on a beta blocker) dropped on daily 5 mg Cialis, 135/75 → 104/64.

I would go as far to say even if you don’t have ED issues, Cialis has many health benefits beyond its intended purpose. Reversing, endothelial dysfunction, improving insulin sensitivity, and even improving the symptoms of diabetic neuropathy.

Cialis is also FDA approved to treat benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH).

The benefits are numerous.

I have struggled getting my blood pressure down and just went on another medication since amlodapine was horrible for me. I don’t really have ED issues so would Cialis be something my doctor would even think of prescribing? I don’t want to walk around with a hard on all day.

up to 140/90 is normal. there is another thread somewhere here.
cialis did not do shit for me BP.
from all the meds i think telmisartan is the best

Thank you. I have been 145/78 or so with little spikes. Stress probably. I would really like to get it down to something in the 125 range after reading some medical articles on that being better for the brain and memory. Is this iron clad? Don’t know for sure unless there are have multiple studies on it.

stress messes with my BP so bad. i gave up on trying to manage stress related BP. i take telmisartan 40mg daily and on a non stressful day my BP is usually 130/80 or so. on bad days it would go up to 160/100 at worst. on those I got clonidine+hydralazine as needed only which I would not take every day

Hydralazine has poor reviews online and I didn’t feel good on it at all. If I take Hydralazine infrequently, it works well, but not by itself.

Never tried hydralazine but clonidine was like I was hit by a hammer. Made me non-functional. Like walking through mud. Side effects are so different for everyone. High blood pressure is genetic for me so I have to combat it.

No, but it does happen. Any weight gain since starting? Some retain fluid. Blood pressure will decrease more often more often than increase, probably due to weight loss as much as anything, which takes a while by the way.

A month is nothing. Gotta be a bit more patient and give at least 8-12wks I’d say 12wks at minimum. I had some BP spikes after starting 8 or so months ago but all went away with time. Make sure you tick every other box to be as healthy as possible incl diet, training, rest/recovery/sleep, supps, etc. I’m sure you’ll be ok
