He is impressive.
I haven’t seen him in person, but I know that those pictures are several years old and he’s a little bigger than that now.
Quite old but he’s a big boy. Just playing around he could break an arm. He runs quite fast from what I’ve read. There arent many left and this doesnt happen in the wild.

Yep, I also like the part where he claims that he usually eats 100lbs of meat at one sitting and 200 lbs a day. A lion can gorge itself after a kill and eat around 80 pounds of meat in one sitting. But then it wouldn’t eat for several days.
Zoos typically feed lions (and tigers) from like 4 to 10 pounds of meat a day. A liger simply cannot consume 200 lbs of meat a day, nor could anyone afford the upkeep on such an animal.
Yeah, and the 50 mph thing is ridiculous. I’m 100% certain they’ve never actually tested this. And animal speeds are always exaggerated. I saw them test a cheetah on Myth Busters or some show like that a while back–having it run after a jeep. I think the cheetah got up to 50 something for a burst–that is an animal that is at the evolutionary limit for mammalian speed. Everything about it is adapted to be super fast.
A liger, if they had to live in the wild, would be an ambush predator–like a tiger, and probably pounce on really big, really slow things, like, oh, a hippo. The legs are way to short relative to the body for that thing to run fast–I’m guessing it is slower than a big Siberian tiger, and certainly way slower than a lion.
That said, it is still a damn impressive cat, around the size of some of those wicked ice age saber toothed cats.

Maybe in water, on land the liger would no doubt destroy it.
Also about the speed, seing as size is relative to speed on our level, if you scale an animal up and the rate of movement stays the same, the bigger animal is faster. What I mean is that a liger has a longer stride and if it’s leg speed is the same, it will be covering more distance, which means more speed. Anyways, I bet they can get going pretty fast for a medium distance, that one big guy is a little tubby, if one grew up in the wild, i’m sure it would be a bit more athletic looking.
