Help with Uni Research in CrossFit

Hi
I need Crossfitters to answer me a questionnaire. I am doing a research about Common Injuries in CrossFit, which the genre more likely and if there is any relation between experience an frequency for my university project. It will take you 2 minutes.

You are asking crossfitters to answer this? You will not get honest answers.

Who am I gonna ask then if Iā€™m looking for injuries in CrossFit? Not everyone think crossfit causes more injuries than other sportsā€¦in fact the studies shows it doesnā€™t.

I would say this is a difficult question to get a realistic answer toā€¦ You have the actual crossfitters, like ones that actually care about their shoulder health, then you have the ā€œcrossfittersā€ who knew/know nothing of proper form and perform above their max potential - and suffer injuries.

I think the majority of people who were injured as a result of crossfit were destined to get hurt doing whatever form of exercise they were going to do. I also think that crossfit is a cult with an ā€˜all or nothingā€™ attitude that creates an atmosphere ripe with injury potential.

As to your sample pool though, you would probably do better to ask an equal number of people who

  • tried crossfit (and stopped)
  • are actively doing crossfit (<6 months)
  • are actively doing crossfit (>6 months)

and testing injury:experience comparisson.

This being said, you could ask the same question of bodybuildersā€¦ Who HASNā€™T been hurt/injured thatā€™s practiced progressive overload?
You chose a difficult topic for research, lots of variables and moving goal-posts for defining an ā€œinjuryā€.

Studies arenā€™t supposed to prove something the researcher already believes.

So why are you doing this?

I based my answer according to studies I have read about the topic. I stated two hypothesis I will find and finally just to let you know Iā€™m not doing this to find Crossfit causes more injuries, just which area is the most injured, which gender is more likely to suffer it and if there is any correlation between experience and frequency.
As every sport, there are injuries.

So something like this?
Injury Rate and Patterns Among CrossFit Athletes - PMC.

Thank for your advise.

Yeah Iā€™ll account the frequency and experience as well.
and Yes, something like that.

Next year I have to extend the topic and further research so Iā€™ll think about your suggestion to compare it to body builders or olympic lifters.
