Hi, below are my results… I am looking for help on that DHEA-S test is? Some might say my T levels are normal, others say it is very low for a 35 year old… Any thoughts?
Very common to get it, though a lot of old school docs only care about total test. Free test is hugely important though.
Just quickly googling some lab ranges for total test in nmol/L it looks like that is on the low end… def. worth getting SHBG and free test, in my opinion anyways
You can pay for the labs yourself through several different websites if you want to get them done and your doc doesn’t want to do them. Assuming you’re in the US.
I am in Canada… All this is fairly new to me… I found a doctor who would hear me out and quickly jumped to wanting to get me on treatment… Next appointment is in August… Does anyone have first hand experience with being on TRT?
Your doctor has tested in inactive portion of testosterone which should have been tested together with Free T, Free T is the stuff in circulation which interacts with all your tissues, Total T is bound to SHBG and not bioavailable, SHBG should have also been tested. Low SHBG men do well on more frequent dosing, ED or EOD dosing using 27-29 gauge insulin syringes.
It doesn’t seem like you doctor understands things very well, I do not see how someone operating in the dark is going to be able to properly treat you. The truth is most doctors are operating in the dark and do not know squat about sex hormones as it was excluded in medical school, so finding a competent doctor in state health care (NHS) is almost impossible.
Canada is one of the worst places to get treated for endocrine disorders, the state health care system is identical to the NHS in the UK. Unless your doctor is willing to learn, you should look for a private clinic for your TRT. Below is a list of doctors that may be able to help.
Dr. Lawrence D. Komer Burlington, Ontario
Dr. Adam Millar at Mount Sinai Hospital in Ontario
You are on T nation in the forum for guys who are on testosterone replacement. There are maybe 2 guys who post here but refuse to pull the trigger and get on TRT. Everyone else is.
I started to have a slew of symptoms associated with low T… Mental fog, loss of morning wood, erections were feeling a little bit weaker, little bit of depression and for the first time in my life I was getting anxiety attacks over stupid stuff like watching the news… My family physician put me on anti anxiety medication thinking that maybe this just came on from no where or it was brewing in me for awhile… He ran a bunch of blood work and couldn’t find anything wrong with me… Once I started to research my symptoms together I stumbled upon low T… From there I tried supplements like magnesium, zinc, Koren red ginseng, argentine, etc… Nothing really worked. My question, would trt really help with all these things, the mental fog and weaker erections… I don’t have ed i can always get it up and finish but I am finding it hard to believe that it can help with all these symptoms
Is hcg safe to run forever or is that done on cycles… I do plan on having more children
The locally weighted regression showed that total testosterone levels of 440 and 480 ng/dL were associated with increased Framingham CVD risk and an increased probability of increased hsCRP, respectively. Men with sexual dysfunction (poor sexual performance, decreased morning erection, and loss of libido) had significantly greater CVD risk.
Testosterone increases nitric oxide, you penis requires adequate levels of nitric oxide. TRT will help create stronger more robust erections provided you are on the appropriate protocol and not in excess.
This is not even close to true. Actually. OP is going to be dealing with OHIP, and is surrounded by some of the most advanced medical care in the world, bar none. I have experience with OHIP and the different US systems. I’d take his over the US in a heartbeat. There are TRT specialists, I’m thinking of a clinic in Burlington, and probably a slew of options around T-O. Like Brampton seems likely to have some good younger docs to work with. There are also some studies coming out of McMaster, so there may be programs to get involved with there. OHIP does not resemble NHS, and always gave me better care than I got i the US.
TRT will change your life. I didn’t realize my true potential until I started T and my penis got bigger flacid and erect. I walked around with a hard-on half of the day for like a month with my penis feeling like it was going to split down the middle because it hadn’t been t hat big ever possibly. the pain eventually went away and now my dick works wonderfully. Dicks aside, all other areas of my life improved dramatically. Energy and drive that I never had before. Clear thinking and much better memory. I grew all kinds of hair all over my body that i guess I should have had but just never got because my t was so low even as a teenager most likely. Body recomposition. I lost a ton of fat in 6 months and gained a bunch of lean muscle. Only wish i found TRT 10 years sooner.
