I’ve had this pretty nice sound system I received from my now deceased uncle, who was a big part of my life. It just croaked on me about 6 months ago, but now I have a little more income and would like to try fixing it.
So far all the speakers and subs work, the main issue is that the board has 2 places that are fried, I can post some pics if that would help, but I’m assuming that I just need to buy new boards. Does anyone know of a good forum or website that might cover this?
This is where its at, but its alot like T-Nation in that you might have to wade through some bullshit to get the answers you are looking for. Its geek central for audio, but some of the peeps on there really know their shit.
Also,
Less traffic but a few really knowledgable posters.
Most of the time replacing a board or two is just a matter of disconnecting them, removing what ever screws are holding them to the chassis and replacing with new.
It is a very good idea to draw a schematic including color codes for the wiring, or snapping some good close ups with a cam phone- including pertinent notes on the direction of the view and exactly which boards the wires are connecting to.
It’s probably harder to get hold of the boards than to replace them.
