Help, Not Feeling Right. What Labs?

Hello all,

I have a doctors appointment today because I have not been feeling right for about a year now and it just keeps getting worse. TC’s Iodine article started all of this for me. Follwing Kmans sticky, here is some info.
-age- 31 as of January
-height- 6’1"
-waist- 32"
-weight- 180ish
-describe body and facial hair - body and facial hair is normal.
-describe where you carry fat and how changed- I carry pretty much all my fat around my waist, mostly love handles.
-health conditions, symptoms [history]
-Rx and OTC drugs, any hair loss drugs or prostate drugs ever- I take suboxone, 3mg per day and have been for about five years. I’ve taken various anti depressants over the years(usually taken for a few months only. they never made me feel right)
-describe diet- for the past few months now my appetite is non existent.
-describe training- nothing for the past month or so. 2-3 moths prior I ran 5/3/1 three days a week and played ice hockey two nights a week.
-testes ache, ever, with a fever?- My left testes aches. Diagnosed with a vericocele
-how have morning wood and nocturnal erections changed- no morning wood at all, however I get a raging hard on about 20-30 minutes after I wake up.

After reading TC’s iodine article and finding KSmans Thyroid thread I started to monitor morning temps since I am always freezing in the mornings. Most mornings were just below 97, with some just above. I tried IR with 50mg iodoral, but noticed no change at all in temps, taste, urine smell, etc. I did start using iodized salt after TC’s article was posted.

Other info and symptoms:
-constipation
-left foot swells up randomly when sitting.
-very dizzy when I stand up from sitting or reach down to grab something.
-freezing cold all the time

  • two auto accidents in three years where I was hit from behind pretty good.
-Brain fog, no one knows what that means but everyone knows if they have it! TONS OF THIS
-Social withdrawal - “I would rather not go out” HUGE SOCIAL WITHDRAWAL!
-Why do I carry fat like a woman?
-Why am I a moody bitch?
-My testes are softer and smaller
    -My testes ache 24x7
-My scrotum is up-tight, gives “how are they hanging” a whole new meaning. OMG THIS
    -“morning wood” NOPE
-Why do I feel cold easily or all of the time?
-Why do really stressful situations leave me feeling physically beat up. Adrenal fatigue.
-Dry skin, brittle hair and nails

I used to be such a “go getter”. I always had tons of energy, always felt super hot temp wise. This is the first year I hate winter :(. I always thrived in tough situations or challenges. Played hockey in college. Now if I get in a tough spot, instead of figuring shit out, I’d rather pout and cry. I work at a college so I see tons of ass all day and would still like to sample each one, so I guess that is a plus.

After reading the stickies, I am still confused(brain fog anyone?)as to what labs I need to ask for. If someone could help me out that would be great!

just got back from seeing my PCP. Only saw him briefly once before. He snickered and laughed at me for asking for specific labs. He said “to often people ask for all these tests, their numbers come back abnormal and nothing is even wrong with them.” He also was very against getting my vitamin D checked. After an argument he agreed to that. So, I did get some blood work done, just not quite sure what. I should have the numbers in a few days.

If anyone knows a decent doctor in the worcester MA area PLEASE let me know.

EDIT: He also said no to the Adrenal labs saying “if your adrenals failed, you would know” and “adrenal inefficiency is the same as adrenal failure”(not sure if this is true or not)

Doctors office just called. Said no further blood work is needed and that the doctor recommends “life style changes”, but obviously nothing specific. He has been FIRED! On the hunt for a new doctor.

Great job… FIRE him …It’s hard to find a Dr. willing to do his/her best to make you feel better…You will probably have to find an anti aging clinic or go to an online…

Thanks man. I am not giving up on finding a doctor yet! I pay too damn much for insurance! The STTM website has some really good info. I joined their yahoo group(waiting approval) to help find a doctor and found a few DO’s from the website who are in my area.

Anyone have any advice on training while figuring this crap out? Should I just hold off or go by how I am feeling?

IF THERE IS ANYONE FROM MASSACHUSETTS WHO HAS FOUND A GOOD DOCTOR FOR THIS SORT OF THING PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!

Joe,
I’m not expert when it comes to opiates and addiction treatment.
I did spend a little time today reading about Suboxone side effects with regards
to T, e2, Prolactin and thyroid. It seems that it has a profound effect.

Is there anyway you could live with a lower dose, or perhaps ween yourself off
of the med ?

I am working on weening off of it. Suboxone is one of big pharmas best scams. I started it years ago by a doc who said there was no withdrawal when stopping. Turns out the stuff is like 10x more powerful than morphine. I was never a “junkie”. I had a few surgeries back to back and got hooked on opiates. Instead of suffering for a week to detox I was told about this miracle suboxone! Not only are the withdrawals worse, they last for a month or longer because of the drugs half life as opposed to the 3-7 days for percocet detox.

For suboxone treatment, I am on a very low dose. Could you provide me with a few links? I could use a little extra motivation to finally get off this horrible shit. WHY DO DOCTORS SUCK SO MUCH!?

T-Nation won’t allow outside links.
I know opiates, oxy etc have really bad side effects on T/e2/prolaction and Thyroid.
I googled “suboxone testosterone” and a bunch of links came up with guys with similar
symptoms to yours.

You are right about docs handing pain killers out like candy, and patients becoming easily
addicted, what’s worse are teens raiding their parents pill bottles and becoming addicted and
eventually turning to heroin.

My goofy URO gave me script of oxycodone when I had a vasectomy a few years ago…20 pills.
I ended up needing 2 of them, the others I started taking recreationally until I got down to 10, then
I tossed them…but you can see how easily a need turns into an addiction, I know you first hand.

Back to your situation.
I’ve read many threads on T-Nation where a guy shows up on TRT and has a really hard time with it all.
Many are suffering from opiate addiction after a bad accident, or series of operations.
Look up threads and posts from Cobra003, I think his story is somewhat similar to yours. I know
things have been much better for him since he began weening himself off the pain meds.

Good Luck.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it.
