I was just looking at new Rams (I have an 03’) and they’re giving $8,500 in rebates.
My truck has 120k miles and has not needed any major repairs. I drive it to Florida and back and my husband drives it to NY and back. I’ve had other Dodge vehicles before and always had good luck with them.
Chevys have had transmission problems in the past from many people I know. I don’t know if this issue has been resolved but it put a bad taste in my mouth when my brother in law needed to replace the transmission in his Blazer every 40 miles. Then it happened to another friend so I crossed Chevy off my list.
I know folks who are very happy with their Ford vehicles. I’m just particular to Chrysler/Dodge since I had several of them with no major problems even after many miles.

I think you meant dodge not Checy at the end there.
I too had problems with my chevy.
My first one the engine blew up, as in flames shooting out of the hood blow up.
The second one ('03) had sand in the fuel tank from when it was molded and they had to replace the entire fuel line when it only had 1,000 miles on it.
I actually like the Ford better. It handles like a car and the lower HP rating feels bunk. The Ford seems much more powerful when accelerating, both from a stop and while on the highway.
The cab is much more quite and bigger.
I’m not sure about the smaller trucks. Read up on them and test drive one of each to see what you think.

Don’t go brand new…best truck ever is Ford Lightning. There’s a local guy near me that has one putting down over 600rwhp…and they are sexy looking.
My friend just got one, very nice.
I just don’t see a reason to go fullsize, tighter parking spots and even at 5’8’’ 230 I feel small in them haha.
Yeah, my friend just got one, it is very nice.

Buy something used that you can buy cash
Been there, done that. Basically instead of a car payment I have a mechanic payment, get’s old.
I love Dodge’s until they gave them the new big front lip look.
My favorite car has always been my Chevy Blazer, but I had to replace the transmission, my dad’s blazer has lived in the shop and he gave up getting the tranny to run right.

Go test drive each of them, and figure out which one you like best. It doesn’t matter what anyone on here likes, it matters what you like
Agree, but I wanted to get a feel for what other people thought on the quality of these trucks as I have no prior experience with them.

I have always liked the lightning too, but I would rather have an overrall truck then a performance vehicle. I get in a enough trouble with my 100hp jetta.

Anything from GM. They’re a solid company with a promising future
Never thought about the GMC line, are they any different then the Chevy’s? I usually think of them the same.

Nothing worst than car payments. Use the saved money for savings, traveling, school, hookers, alcohol, or anything else that’s more important than a hollow chunk of metal.
I bought a new car last year. I’ve learned from my mistake. I make the payments fine and even drop extra every month but that money could be going to “fun” stuff or savings instead of a depreciating asset.
Good post.
I agree with this post as well. I also agree with Testy that you should get a full sized truck. I cannot tell you how many times I have stuff that barely fits in my full size short bed. The mileage is not that much different either. The only problem I can see is that parking can be
a PITA in a big city.
All that aside, I have owned trucks from Ford, Chevy and Dodge. The Ford was my favorite. However, it was also the most expensive. I am currently driving a Silverado and it has given me absolutely no trouble whatsoever. The Dodge siply sucked balls. That said, I have several friends that love their Rams. I understand the resale on Rams is really poor.

Have you seen the Foose?
Lol nope, I try not to look at too much stuff that I can’t afford. I love the Lightning and I have been checking them out locally, can get a nice one with decent mileage for around $13k
Now that you showed me the pic tho of course I’m in the process of googling it!

Nice looking lightning man. I want to pick up a black one and get some nice black wheels on it, possibly with polished lip. Saw one driving around few weeks ago and it looked amazing. Hopefully get mine within the next year or 2, I’ve got some other shit I’d like to get paid off first…then save up the 13grand or so to pay cash for one.
Any particular mods done to yours? Pulley swap, etc?

I am trying to decide between:
Dodge Dakota
Chevrolet Colorado
Ford Ranger
Not overly concerned about MPG as I live 1.5 miles from work.
I just don’t have any idea what would be the better truck. I plan to purchase 2008/2009 as to get the longest warranty possible.
I also want the biggest cab possible.
Ford Rangers have no pick up. You punch it and nothing happens. I haven’t heard too many good things about chevys lately, doesn’t seem like they make them like they used to.
I own a 2005 dodge 1500 pickup (single cab, V6, no power windows or locks, most basic there is) and haven’t had any problems with it. Its a good dependable truck. I got it brand new for less than a ford ranger.

might as well go fullsize, the f150 has HUGE rebates

I’m 6’2" and miss my old Tacoma in the worst way.

Yeah but everybody gave their opinion and you argued with them. Pretty pointless.
