Heavy Metal Thread (and Associated Genres)

They are brilliant live. Majestic even. Saw them with Baroness and High on Fire

Man, I love me some Baroness

@samvariation you won’t be disappointed.

There is a fucking lighting guy that “plays” the lights for their shows. Dude is following polyrhythms and the drops on guitars at the same time, perfectly in sync with the music.

No shit ?

Ya they have youtube videos of him playing what looks like some sort of midi drum pad plugged into the lighting software. Pretty badass.

Dude’s polyrhythms are just insane

Aggressive as hell. Reminds me of a mix of danza, car bomb, chariot and deftones. I think I found a new fave.

You sure he’s not just typing lyrics into a teleprompter for the singer?

“Growl growl arrrgh growl grow
rrrahhh diiieee!”

Seriously, that’s fascinating.

Some DSBM

Beautiful stuff

@dt79 there’s no screaming, you might be into this

@brickhead powerful music, not traditional BM in the sense of sacreligious lyrical content or imagery. It’s more or less an instrumental, acoustic with some black metal undertones towards the end. Perhaps you’d appreciate/be able to listen to this.

Actually on second note there appears to be some screaming that I didn’t pick up the first three times I’ve listened to this.

I’m cool with screaming. growling, anything, really as long as the song is good.

I still fall back on Friedman for this kind of soft, instrumental music. I really wish the dude wasn’t just associated with the “shred” genre and Megadeth. He’s got so much more in him than that.

@marine77 : “THIS IS A METAL THREAD!”

I know, I know.

Paganini’s “Moto Perpetuo” is somewhere in there btw lol.

But this doesn’t quite scream “teenage angst and edgy vibes” does it. Fjaer on the other hand

@dt79 the ending of that first friedman song seemed so out of place, but so perfect. IDK how to describe it.

Thanks.

Annihilator was great.

I was referring to the fjaer song (the one to check out).

Believe it or not annihilator have been around since the 1980’s!

Fat tunes

Should be noted shining is really, really, really, really dark. The music is killer though.

We need more violence.

This is the stuff I listen to when I need to be “in the zone”, do my hypertrophy stuff density style, like a Beach workout window. This automatically puts me in a dark, aggressive mood with a “fuck off” face

These two are not metal, but there’s a stratospheric “oomph” to it

I think combat in particular is a fantastic song.
