Perhaps it’s the wrong way around, but after quite a few years’ of sensible steroid use, I am wondering if there is any real truth in the claim that steroids are bad for the heart?! I’ve always taken claims with a pinch of salt.
The main concern about steroids is possible heart growth. It’s normal for the heart to grow, but it has limits. Weather a true link between roids and heart hypertography has been established I can’t answer. Increases in muscle mass often jack up the workload on the heart, forcing pressure to skyrocket to overcome resistance and having to raise heart rate as stroke volume alone can’t copensate for these 300lb monsters. Needless to say, that just aint cricket.
Check out that article on here called ‘T and your Ticker’. I believe the findings about heart growth is that it is related to weight lifting, not steroid use. The jury is of course still out on the overall question, as not enough study has been done to prove that there is, or isn’t any damage sustained with AAS use.
