Healthy Fats for Cooking

@CS and everyone else, how would you “rank” the acceptable fat sources to cook with? I’ve been mixing things up between Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Grassfed butter and some cheese every once in a while. Just wanted to hear some thoughts different fat sources.

I do almost all of my cooking with macadamia nut oil, Tastes great and doesn’t burn your food like olive oil can!

Have you read this article by John Meadows? I remember this article from a while back and thought it might be of interest. Pretty sure there are a few like it as well.

I personally cook with coconut oil most of the time, and sometimes I’ll use olive oil but I really save that for salads and other foods that don’t require cooking.

Coconut oil is good for a lot of reasons including immune benefits/metabolism benefits.

Macadamia nut oil has very high smoke point so you can do hot cooking with that.

No to olive oil, smoke point is too low and you’ll waste the antioxidant properties of olive oil. Use that to drizzle on your food after cooking or for salads.
