I just visited the dentist for the first time in over 10 years. They wanted to x-ray my mouth and I told them it’s not necessary, as I have no issues. They were adamant and I finally gave in. And as I had already known, it wasn’t necessary. The dentist and hygienist were both amazed at my awesome teeth and told me I had the mouth of a 15 year old. They were amazed at my gum health and whiteness of my teeth. I told them I’m an obsessive flosser and often rinse with peroxide after brushing 2x per day.

Old Navy has shitty styles for the past 2 years.

I agree I look funny, but I don’t stink… usually.
You rinse with peroxide?

I didn’t know people actually did that. I thought it was a wive’s tale.
Wives tales also include brushing your teeth 2x a day and flossing your teeth.
Most people I know just use Listerine or a fluoride mouthwash. Who the heck uses peroxide besides ID? Seriously.
Thought everyone knew Brother Chris’ simple guide to whiter teeth (do in order):

 1. Floss
 2. Peroxide
 3. Brush
 4. Scrape
 5. Pick
 6. Listerine

Do this, it takes five minutes. You’re mouth be fucking minty fresh, bitch.

How in the hell do you get fly larvae in your skin?
My brother used to live in Congo and he always had to iron every stitch of clothing that was hung out on a clothesline because flies would lay eggs in the clothes, and the larvae would burrow into your flesh. I’ve heard it’s excruciating.
You want some horror? Sheep have a specific fly that will lay an egg up their nose. It hatches, and the maggot crawls up the cavity, and goes specifically for the same part of the brain every time.

You discover the poor buggers, when they’ve short circuited, and are stuck walking in a circle until it’s worn in the grass, and they dehydrate/starve to death.

I went to the Old Navy website and they actually had some pretty good stuff. 25% discount was a great deal and I ended up spending $120 total. Thanks X.

Iron dwarf- just straight up peroxide? Do you mix it with water? how long to swish?

sorry, that is all.
Hey MiMD

Yes, straight up. I pour a cap-ful into my mouth and lightly swish around. Then I let it stay in my mouth until it foams up completely, so that when I spit it out, it’s just a white foam and no clear liquid.

Then I rinse with water.
You do not use pure H2O2 but a 2,5% solution at best, which would already be very strong.

Anyone trying to rinse with pure H2O2 is in for a very, very, very unpleasant surprise.

And, what is that very unpleasant surprise, I rinse with 3%.

Wouldn’t rinsing your mouth with Hydrogen Peroxide on a regular basis, like, destroy valuable mouth cells, and shit?

OH SNAP its professor X bestowing us with some Knowledge! Will you be giving us a “Fun Fact” everyday? I hope so!

There are people who do 5%.

Does not change that H2O2 is a very aggressive bleaching agent.

I have worked with this stuff and I do not want a 30% solution on my skin, let alone in my mouth.

I’ve already told you people that I’ve used peroxide for YEARS… and I don’t have a hairy tongue, my mouth cells are still intact, and I haven’t had a cavity in over 27 years! What else can I say about it?

Peroxide works. But it’s only one part of a good oral hygiene plan.

And yes, I’m sure genetics play a role (my dad has great teeth, my mom’s are absolutely awful). But the role genetics plays is the same as with any other genetic predisposition. Lifestyle often presents risk factors that increase likelihood of a problem if one is so genetically inclined.
Do what you must do to maintain your oral health. No shortcuts.

Again, common sense!

EDIT: Oh, and Doc, don’t even act like you don’t agree here. The only reason you’d go against this is because if everyone did what I do, you’d be pretty much out of work.
Hell, do you think the cancer industry really wants people to quit smoking?

lol

DAMN “X”…How in the Fuck did I miss this yesterday.

I’m right there with you, man. I wish I didn’t have such large hands, though. Flossing with braces is a bitch!!! I am waiting for X’s response to a lot of what is being said in here, though.

Beast
You currently have braces?

I just got mine off last year (I’m almost 48 and had them for 5 fucking years). They definitely were a bitch to floss around/through. But you HAVE to do it no mater what. Decay can start near or under those damned appliances if you don’t keep up on it.
Peroxide played an even more important role here, as I was able to swish it around and hold it in my mouth to reach all the tiny places the brush and floss couldn’t reach.

An actual exchange between a friend of mine, and her dentist:

Friend: “Doc, do I really need to floss ALL my teeth every day?”

Dentist: “Nah. Only the ones you want to keep.”

Listerine Total Care is awesome. It reversed the onset of two cavities in my mouth last year, which would have been my first cavities ever at age 30. Of course, I only saw that particular hygenist once so he could’ve been full of shit.

Old Navy and saving money? Meh. Go to http://www.tripleaughtdesign.com/ and spend way too much on winter gear.
Just FWIW, I personally know 25 people who have had or have cancer, some died, some survived, some may yet still die. 1 of those people was lung cancer which may be attributed to smoking. It was my grandfather and he was in his late 60’s. I know hundreds of smokers, so my anecdotally small sample is that there is a WHOLE lot of cancer out there that has nothing to do with smoking. Statistacally From CDC, a “smoker” has a .06 chance of lung cancer annually. This does not factor how heavy a smoker one is so within that .06 it’s likley higher for pack or two pack per day smokers and lower for people who smoke less.

My little town has an old landfill Upstream from our watershed. It is My estimate that the landfill is leaching toxins and chemicals into our watersource and our little valley here has a very high incidence of cancer of all types.

So, Use a very high end water filter, the water in this country is getting worse and worse and worse. You all hear the stories of the estrogens, well thats just the tip of the iceburg. The berkey water filters are very good, they filter out food coloring wich is a tiny tiny tiny particle. The berkey will filter out almost all toxins and contaminants.

V, I was only making a witty point about the smoking/cancer thing. However, a while ago I heard an interview on the radio with a prominent oncologist who said that smoking can be attributed to 50% of all cancers and cancer cases. That’s a high number.
Thanks for the info.

I agree about the water. We’ve been distilling our own water for the past 24 years.

I guess I’ll be replenishing my floss stock tonight… Yes, I’ve got my grillz. Can’t wait to return to Germany so they can continue where we left off. All I want is to bite into an apple again! lol.

 1. All of the cool kids use floss picks. If you have not gotten some floss picks, you are NOT cool and your breath stinks. I just started buying these and they have changed how much I floss drastically. It is now no effort and, yes, like beast wrote, I have big hands too so flossing the traditional way for me is like physical comedy.

 2. Hydrogen peroxide can increase tooth sensitivity and in very concentrated amounts could damage oral tissue. I would not recommend using peroxide as a daily rinse like a mouth wash.
ucallthatbass wrote:
I heard rinsing with peroxide gives you a hairy tongue (the flora in your mouth get messed up and one grows out of control).
Not scraping away the dead cells of the tongue is the most likely cause of black hairy tongue. Using Pepto Bismol can cause the tongue to turn black as well in some people.
X is the waterpik worth it, or as good as flossing?
No, the water pick is not the same as flossing.

Buy floss picks.
