HCG For Weight Loss

I have a friend who is set on taking HCG for losing weight. Have any of you guys heard of this or tried this successfully?

The diet is supposed to be an extremely low calorie diet, around 500-1000 calories a day. You are supposed to lose around a pound of fat a day, at least that is what some of the claims are by various internet sources. They even recommend not to train when taking HCG.

I ask because i don’t know what to tell him. I understand how to use HCG in a cycle, but i have never heard of it being used in this way. What would you guys have me tell him? Is using HCG in this way going to give him positive results? Oh and by the way he is not a lifter really, he just wants to get trim.

Thanks for the help!

After reading on this more it seems like it is complete bullshit!! Anyone is going to lose a lot of weight on a very low calorie diet, just not the weight in the right areas necessarily. But some people are saying how they lost pretty much no muscle…which makes little sense to me.

The increase in testosterone will go some way to preventing SOME of the muscle lost during this awful diet plan, but not far enough.

A diet of this restriction is designed to reduce the metabolism - ie. to reduce muscle tissue. Starvation diets make people fatter eventually (i can explain why if asked), depressed, cause organ atrophy and reduce testosterone production and immunity among many other shitty problems.

HCG used in a low dose while natural can increase the levels to high normal - except this will NOT prevent the extreme weight loss (read: muscle, water and fat in that order) given by the starvation diet outlined above.
If it is used with the intention that it can offset the catabolic state achieved by the ‘diet’, then it would need to be used in large regular doses - which will increase estrogen production and cause full suppression of natural anabolic hormone production.

This fact added to the stresses of the diet result in a really bad idea.

This is a fucking stupid idea and this guy should not be discussed here - but i entertain you in the vague hope you print this off and shove it up his arse.

*ps. 1lb of fat a day is not possible - 1lb of weight a day is and is totally unhealthy.

Even a cycle of test, tren and whatever the fuck couldnt maintain metabolism on 500kcal a day.

Sounds like someone’s just trying to make a buck on some new miracle weight loss method. Does it say what dose to take the HCG at?

Have you explained what HCG actually does when males take it?

Does he know how low 500-1000 calories actually is? The weight gain rebound will be remarkable when he goes back to eating normally.

This has come up before and there was quite a lot of discussion. Which ended in disproving the whole HCG diet plan. For the OP, here is some proof for your friend;

This pisses me off - anyone who knows the basics about HCG and human optimal nutrition can see what a crock of shite this idea is.

I think the guy who ‘designed’ this ‘diet’ needs to be beaten (with words of course…)

Might as well just run a test cycle with a normal cutting diet.

HCG usage for test boosting is just people trying to imitate steroid usage, without actually using the DREADED ROIDS…

Unfortunately they understand neither HCG or steroids.

Thanks for the responses! I figured it would not be recommended, but i really had nothing to back it up.

I will inform him of the stupidity of this program.
