I’ve got to confess to something here, and I’m wondering if other expats living in Japan feel the same way.
I LOVE it when the Japanese lose at something. I absolutely freaking love it.
It’s horrible. I mean, I’m delighting in the sorrows of my adoptive country, that overall has treated me extremely well, but the Japanese tend to have such a sense of superiority that any kind of crushing defeat they suffer makes me feel better about myself. I’m such a petty asshole.
Even though my native country of Canada did not participate (much) in the Pacific campaign of the war, I’m going to record this and give it to some of my nationalistic co-workers.
What a show that is. My grandfather fought in the Pacific… so I’m glad they’ve made this.

My mother-in-law always makes a point that she’s Okinawan…NOT…Japanese…lol.
She didn’t say she can’t wait to see Japanese get gunned down verbatim…but she says that the “mainlanders” deserved what they got for getting them into WWII(Pear Harbor). She also says that Okinawans were(are) always treated as “low-class” to mainland Japanese.

I loved the Japanese soldier in the swamp. He kept yelling “Is that all you’ve got? Fucking shoot me!”. Serious balls.
Soooo good. Already had me tearing up, and it’s only the first installment.
Great first episode, enjoyed Band of Brothers will be nice to see new characters and Scenario. I know this series is good but i do feel that people exaggerate at how good the series is mainly because all this gung-ho patriotism that seems to flood everybody when they watch these films.
That was uber good. Pretty crazy firefight scene. Can’t wait til next week.
