Hey, I’m really sorry for disappearing from the thread like that, got caught up writing the rest of the paper. I thin iconography works best, but I could have sworn there was a d word. Perhaps I just imagined it.

I’m going to go with ‘pantheon,’ but I think that word is more for polydeistic religions.
I was going to say pantheon as well. It can be used for other religions. Some people might find it offensive to be used in a ‘monotheistic’ one.

The only D words I can think of are doctrine and dogma.
Neither of them really fits in your sentence though. Doctrines (and dogmas) are big, sweeping beliefs held to be authoritative without empirical justification–the doctrine of transubstantiation, etc. They are the things people take on faith, the backbone of Christianity. I wouldn’t characterize the concept of the halo as a dogma or a doctrine, just a stupid little detail.
