Used to happen all the time when I worked two jobs - one day and one night.
Sometimes I wouldn’t remember what day it was, sometimes I would wake up at 5pm and think it was 5am and that I overslept for my night job.
The feeling sucks, but the sense of relief after is pretty sweet, too.
Yeah, you open your eyes and it’s getting dark outside, but you’re convinced it’s the sun rising the next day. It’s pretty nice when you realize what’s going on and you end up mentally gaining 12 hours.

Stop drinking.
I got so drunk one christmas eve that I passed out and was put to bed. Woke up “next morning” to hear all my family downstairs and thought they were tits for not waking me. Turns out I’d only been out for 5 hours.
My mum once pranked me at dusk, making me get up for school. I got my uniform on and everything in a right royal hurry, at which point … she got my brother and my dad in and they had a nice laugh at me.
Twats.
Sometimes I’ll have a 10 minute nap, wake up and think 2 hours has passed.

This happens to me but in reverse. I’ll think I was only out for 10 minutes but it’s been like 20 years. Fuck you Rip Van Winkle
This happened to me during the california rolling blackouts. Woke up and everything was pitch black and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what time it was or wtf was going on. I started to think I had died or something lol
After I flew back from Japan, I went to sleep on a Sunday, and woke up around midnight between Monday and Tuesday, that fucked with me for a while.
Was out for a good 36 hours after a few xanax sticks and a half a bottle of Jim Beam.
Might have been a mini coma.

Carlin’s take on this and other things:
Outstanding, that man was a genius.
in college i worked as a cook at a Waffle House and did a two week stretch of rolling shifts, work one, off one, in a three shift schedule. got to where the only way I could tell what day it was was to turn on CNN and watch the ticker at the bottom of the screen.
It happened to me 2 or 3 times times. I agree it’s a very creepy feeling.
BTW at that time I wasn’t drunk or something, just totally exhausted.

I went to sleep at about 3pm for a siesta and woke up as the sun was going down. Mum made me believe it was morning time and that I needed up be up for school. I didn’t click to the fact that I’d only just got back from school 4 hours ago, freaked out because I thought I was late and got my school uniform.
They all laughed. Clearer?
