Hate It When My Balls Get Stuck

If I may ask: What procedure did you and your cornea specialist decide upon, and how’d it go?
I preceded with the cross linking. The procedure went very well, I had a follow up appointment on Thursday and they were very surprised with how well I have healed, especially considering that I didn’t have any pain. I’m slated to receive hard contacts ahead of schedule, early next month. Sight will be a very nice Christmas present. Also, despite the study closing at the end of next month, I will be able to have my fellow eye done in April/May.

Thanks for checking in. I really appreciate that you are willing to offer your knowledge on here, both what you’ve done in the weight room and office.
Glad to hear it went well, and good luck going forward. Would be interested in hearing your impressions as you go through the process.

@EyeDentist Will do. I have my next appt the first week of December, I’ll give you an update then.

Sunday

Squat
3x185
3x225
3x245

Squat
3x20

Smith Lunges
3x10

Glute Ham Raise
3x20

Cardio
Seated Bike Sprints - Set resistance to 20 and did 25 seconds as hard as possible, with 40 seconds rest, 5 times.

Monday - Wife fell asleep at 8 and I didn’t feel like walking the 1.5 miles to gym while is pouring down rain.

Tuesday - Refeed day. I’ve never understood ‘hard gainers’ and people who claim they can’t physically eat anymore. I have never had a problem pounding food. Yesterday, I ate everything I possible could. For lunch I had 14oz of Lamb, 2 cups of tabouli, 2 naan breads, a 1 cup of white rice, 4 slices of provolone cheese and tzatziki sauce. That was just one meal. Dinner was just a food laid out and then ordered a pizza followed by going to a movie and eating popcorn.

Wednesday - Toned back my intake to a normal day. PB sandwich and protein shake in the morning and lamb gyro for lunch. I definitely felt really full today. I weighed in at 265lbs, which is the heaviest I have ever weighed. I guess that’s a PR, right? I felt really good going into chest day and had a couple of PR’s.

Bench
3x165
3x180
3x205 - Felt super easy.

Pin Press - ~3-4" off chest
5x5: 2@185, 3@225 - Felt really good. Today felt like I had crazy strength.

CGBP
5x10 3@135 (Rep PR) and 2@155 (20lb PR, most weight I’ve attempted)

Cardio - repeated 3 times
KB Swings

 • 10 w/both hands
 • 10 w/left hand
 • 10 w/right hand
 • 10 Ab Rollouts

I still had a bit of energy and the gym was empty so decided to do cable shrugs. I had been thinking this would be a good idea for awhile and figured I’d give it a go. After 2 sets of quick reps, half reps, pauses, etc I didn’t feel anything and left. Holy crap, after walking 100 yards, on my 1.5 mile walk home, my traps were cramping.

Notes: Felt like a really good workout. I’ve always felt like my chest progress takes forever, strength and size wise. I know part of it is my 6’9" reach, but it is crazy how certain muscle groups respond really well to everything and others don’t respond (quickly) to anything.

I’m looking forward to having a huge breakfast tomorrow morning (my 6’6" lil brother and I always compete to see who can eat the most french toast on thanksgiving) and then spending 2 hours hammering my back. I was reading csullis log and he did something like 57 singles on DL. Might give that a run, if i’m feeling good.

Thanksgiving

Woke up early this morning had a large RedBull, 4 pcs of Bacon, 2 Eggs, 13 pcs of french toast, PB, etc then grabbed a protein shake and pre workout. Made for a pretty fun day in the gym.

Chins
3x5 - I do chins every workout, but never mention it, because I’m awful at them. A few years ago I could do 10 strict wide grip pull-ups with 45lbs between my legs, but that was when I weighed 218. Today, after breakfast, I weighed in at 269.

RackPull
10x135
10x225
7x315
5x405 x 2
5x455 x 2
2x495 x 2
1x545 x 2 - (Current PR*) This felt good. Got it up quick without a struggle. I could tell my core was getting weak and didn’t want to push it without a belt.

Bent Over near parallel BB Row
5x10x185lbs

Netural Grip Pull Down
5x10

Super Set
Cable Shrugs/Facepulls/KB Swings - I don’t know why, this just sounded like a good idea. Definitely feeling it now
5x10

*My best Rack Pull ever was 655lbs (wrapped, belted and strapped). 545lbs is could possibly be my best without a belt. I did use straps tho, because there is a new sign that says no chalk, which is probably thanks to me. I’m sure if I lifted during staffed hours there would be a sign that says no lifting over 225lbs.

Friday

OHP
3x05
3x115
3x135
5x135

Z Press
5x10x95lbs

V Pull Down
5x10

Reverse Fly & Lateral Raise
5x10

I had never done or seen Z presses before, but read it and someones log and found a video of Derek Poundstone doing it. This is my new favorite movement. I got a really good pump in my shoulders.

EDIT: Half of what I wrote didn’t post.

Saturday

Squat
5x205
3x235
1x260 - Easy
1x275
1x295 - Currrent PR. Went up fairly easy, a little grind coming out of the hole. This is the most I’ve done since HS, pre torn hamstring.

Squats
2x20

Smith Lunges
2x10/Leg

GHR
2x20

Superset
10 Ab Roller
30 KB Swings
10 Ab Roller
30 KB Swings
10 Ab Roller
Couldn’t do my last set of KB swings. My legs were done. Called it a day.

Sunday

This was supposed to be a day off, but instead turned into a fairly taxing day. My whole body is tight/sore today.

3x500 yard sled pulls - lol Actually just cut down Christmas trees and dragged them to the car.

5 mile hill walk.

Tuesday

Warmup - 1.5 mile walk

Bench
5x175
3x195
1x215
1x225 - Was going to go for 245, but didn’t want to push it without a spot.
2x225
2x225

Pin Press - 2" off chest
3x8

Dips
2x10/BW

Machine Press
3x20 (14 Pronated, 6 neutral grip) With band stretches after each set. This was killer.

I cut my session short, because my wife was on her way home from work and could pick me up. I didn’t feel like walking home in the freezing cold. I’m really looking forward to being able to see/drive in the next few weeks.

Wednesday

Warmup - 1.5 mile walk

Rack Pull
5x315
5x405
3xx455
1x495
1x545
1x595 - Current PR, it was belted though. Granted it was a piece of crap belt that the gym provides. The trainer, at the gym, made me wear it. I don’t know why I don’t use 2.5lb plates. I could of made 600 happen, but instead i’ll be stuck in the 500’s for another month. I’m going to switch back to Deadlifts next cycle.

15 Pullups/Chins alternating - took 4 sets
I can flex my lats, but haven’t ever felt a good pump in them before. On my second set, I was just hanging right before I started my first rep and both of my lats cramped and had a pretty crazy pump, I had read to use straps for pull ups to take the forearms/arms out of the equation, I think this definitely made the difference.

Trap Bar High Pull
3x10
Neutral Grip Pull Down
3x10
Kayak Rows
3x10
KB OH Swings
3x10/arm
Ab Roller
3/10

At this point I was dead. My wife was supposed to pick me up after work, but she told me she would be 20 minutes late. I figured I’d just do some biceps for the hell of it.
Wide/Normal/Close Grip Curls
6x12

So, the wife told me it’d be another 30 minutes, I didn’t feel like waiting and walked the 1.5 miles home. Really can’t wait until l can see to drive at night.

Friday

I fucked up my plan. For some reason I thought it was deload week, instead of 531 on OHP. Oh well. I did lots of prehab work. Stretching, face pulls, band puillaparts, etc.

Saturday

Really glad it’s deload week, definitely need it this week.

Back Squat
3x5
Front Squat
5x10/15sec break. Didn’t rack the weight.
Leg extensions
5x15

Lots of stretching and foam rolling.

15 minutes of stair master, a few light KB swings and some ab roller.

Sunday and Monday

Not much to note just did the deload.

Scale said 232 today, but they moved it to put a christmas tree up, so i’m sure it’s a bit off. ha

Tuesday
Squat
5x185
5x215
5x240 - Easy tho bit slower coming up on the last rep, but could of had at least 4 more.

Front Squats
5x5

Straight Leg Deadlift
5x10x185 - It’s been awhile since i’ve deadlifted from the floor. I’ve never done high reps for DL or any variation of it; i’ve always kept it to 3 reps at most. The weight was light and easy, I’m sure next week 225 will go up easy as well. Just getting used to the higher reps.

GHR
3x20

Ab Wheel

@EyeDentist

Went in yesterday and they were very pleased with my recovery. It appears the cells have solidified(?) and are repairing. He threw out a bunch of medical terms, but said I could wear hard contacts, which is 2 months ahead of schedule. I am scheduled for a fitting on the 30th and will have my vision back!!!

Things to note:

Still can’t see anything from 6 meters away.
I can barely see the first ‘E’ without correction.
Using the pinwheel and looking through the perfect hole at the perfect angle, I can see with 20/20 or better.
My right eye scored an 84 on the pre-scan test, with 80 being eligible for cross linking. I will retest again in April, hoping it gets worse, or I will throw it. It’s kind of an interesting predicament: the program closes at the end of the year, but because I had the procedure on my left eye prior to that date, I have 6 months to have it done on my fellow eye. If I don’t qualify (aka it’s not bad enough) then it’s a waiting game until the government approves it, WHICH could be a few years. Essentially leaving me with one working eye and in the same position i’m in now. Yes, I will throw it in April if my eye is ‘too good’. There is no way I will be blind waiting on the government to approve a procedure that I have already successfully had during trial runs.

Also, worth note, I had 4 minutes of UV light vs. 2:40 or 8 minutes. I’m not sure if there is any conclusive evidence to one time period being better, but I have had zero pain or side effects, just a bit of light sensitivity in the first week.

Video of my SLDL. Nice and light, excited for DL day this week. My rack pull, from the knees, is 600 and the last I tested my DL 1rm was 415. Also, my legs have gotten much stronger in the last 3 months.

EDIT: Apparently it didn’t post. Might have to youtube it.

your balls wouldn’t be stuck if your diet wasn’t junk and actually became planned out to suit your lifting and goals.

Care to elaborate?

Wednesday
Bench
5x155
5x175
5x195

Pin Press 1-2" off chest
8x185
4x5x205

CGBP
5x10

Machine Press followed by band chest stretches
5x15

10 Minutes of Stairmaster

Eliminate the Pizza, Qdoba, Ice Cream, Etc. Stick with your whole/ home made foods and use your carbs wisely to maximize your gains while lifting. John Meadows has a ton of quality info as far as how to adjust diet and manipulate nutrients like carbs in getting the most from your lifts. I highly suggest looking his stuff up (mountain Dog diet) and using it as a template, not just for lifting but life in general. Good luck bro.

Ya, I’ll admit diet is definitely my biggest weakness. It’s gotten a bit better, though. My biggest problem is, I am good most of the day, but get huge pregnant woman cravings midday.

Thanks, I’ll look up his stuff.

Thursday

Deadlift
5x235
5x275
5x315 - This is so killer, I have always been a 1 rep junkie with deadlifts, I have literally no endurance with them.

12 pullups - took 4 sets

DB Row - Nice and slow eccentric feeling my lats stretch
15x95
12x95
9x95
6x96

Neutral Grip Pull Down
5x10

Reverse Flies & Lateral Raises
5x10

Pullups
10 Singles W/15s rest

Stair Master
10 Minutes

Ab Roller
Really good workout. I didn’t crash until then end on the ab roller. I love the progression of 531, but 5 rep Deadlift day is my absolute least favorite. Damn, it took so much out of me.
