Be a little bit fair, John. If Obama was to order the invasion of Iran tomorrow, you know that you would see people protesting here, in the streets and all over the place. And Iran poses unarguably more of a threat to the U.S. national security than Iraq ever did. And then there was the whole Bush rhetoric that is nowhere to be heard from Obama.
I will actually agree with Lixy here, but I would back Obama if he decided to go into Iran. We have the strategic stranglehold on them right now. If I was president, if they so much as sneezed they would become a “glass parking lot.” I heard that in the request to forum mods. Obama needs to grow a backbone and remind the world that we are the strongest country in the world. He has shown we are weak by wanting to please everyone, but his citizens.
Everyone knows we’re the strongest. Going out of way to show them makes enemies of all nations, and leads to our own downfall.

So does your dog, but they will sometime try to bite the hand that feeds them. Sometimes you have to hit them on the nose to remind them.

We do not need a president that has the back bone to attack Iran, we need a president that will rethink our foreign policies. America will never NUKE some one . We would lose our Moral Authority

No, they don’t - which is precisely why we are seeing other nations beginning to dare us into stopping their (various) agendas.

And, at any rate, even if they thought we are “the strongest”, they want to change that fact in the standings, and they sensed a perfect opportunity in the election of 2008.

We are the most powerful, not the strongest. The strongest one is the ones who brings the mostest, the fastest, the soonest . . . It’s no secret that nations around the world are modernizing their close in strike capacity, air defense systems, fast missile boats, cruise missile technology, increased C4ISR, submarine tech is gaining on the US all of the time (some of the Dutch and German boats are actually as good if not better), We’ve exported battlefield technology all over the world as well as tactics. We’re only the strongest when we can project force into a region. Overall, we are losing the ability to force project strength in a ratio that guarantees a victory . . . .

So we are the world’s policemen once again? Forced to intervene in the affairs of other countries because we don’t like their course? Where exactly is the line drawn on that one?

And having a president who isn’t eager to jump into new wars and challenge every country without thought is a good thing, whether the chickenhawks on this board like it or not.

This line speaks volumes about your political beliefs.

So now the citizens of the other countries of the world are dogs, merely to be smacked on the nose in order to be kept in line with the American agenda?

My God, how imperialist we’ve become.

They are modernizing their armies, yes, but they are nowhere near us in technology. It is still no contest, and the technology that we export is often half-assed versions of the stuff that we’ve developed.

LIXY’S BACK!!!

And in NZ now. I’m not sure why, but once or twice a week I wonder what you’re up to and then am reminded that maybe I’m better off not knowing. =]

Same old, same old…now if you don’t mind, I’m going to get back to sending death-threats to cartoonists, getting it on with my 9-year old wife (wife nr. 4, of course!), and plotting to bring down western civilization as we know it.
