Harvey Weinstein is a Scumbag, and Everyone Knew It

Wait, it gets better:

This one kind of made it clearer to me what a lot of the people that were assaulted (as well as those who knew about it), but didn’t come forward, were probably wrestling with. To do so would mean the end of their career, something they spent years/decades working towards.

While it’s easy to ask “WTF is wrong with you for not saying something??”, when it happens to someone like 6’3", 245lb Crews, it paints it in a bit different light.

I don’t understand how all this can happen in Hollywood, the moral light of the world.

What the hell happened to “keep your hands to yourself” and “no means no”?

Am I the only one who was taught that? Pretty simple rules to remember.

Dude, I donno. That’s what I was taught and is what I’ll teach my boys.

Yeah man… As hard as it is to read, if you want to fully grasp the detriment sexual abuse has on people, read their stories.

The reasons it’s so under reported by both men and women are voluminous, and often times are a result of the trauma in and of itself.

Sexual abuse/rape is a remarkably horrid crime, that does so much more to the victim than the just the actual act, it’s really hard to grasp, let alone the emotional difficulty of having true empathy for the victims.

In certain cases victims will present with Complex PTSD. This is the same shit that POW’s get.

I’ve been super interested in the brain, neuroscience, psychology etc lately and as a result of my readings, when I read a headline that says “Raped and Murdered” the fact murdered happened comes as a relief. I truly don’t think there is a worse crime one can commit against another than rape/sexual abuse. That someone has the mercy to kill their victim after is a real thought, it’s mercy for a lot of victims.

Ah fuck…

As soon as they sat down in his room, still wrapped in their winter jackets and hats, Louis C.K. asked if he could take out his penis, the women said.

They thought it was a joke and laughed it off. “And then he really did it,” Ms. Goodman said in an interview with The New York Times. “He proceeded to take all of his clothes off, and get completely naked, and started masturbating.”

In 2003, Abby Schachner called Louis C.K. to invite him to one of her shows, and during the phone conversation, she said, she could hear him masturbating as they spoke. Another comedian, Rebecca Corry, said that while she was appearing with Louis C.K. on a television pilot in 2005, he asked if he could masturbate in front of her. She declined.

This is getting outlandish with the number of people. Predators need outed and tried how many of these do we think are true?

This trial by public opinion thing is going to get out of hand pretty quick. What if Louis CK is innocent? Tough luck I guess, career over.

What if 5 women you worked with in the past just decided to do a shakedown run: “oh yeah he masturbated all over me 10 years ago”. How would you defend against that allegation?

If she declined, how did he abuse her? He did nothing but say words.

Well the thread has hookers, just needs blow. But we all know that’s a no no in Hollywood.

The word “abuse” doesn’t appear in the article; it’s referring to it as “misconduct”.

Louis CK released this statement today. I suppose this is about as much as someone could do in this situation.

https://wtop.com/national/2017/11/stories-are-true-louis-c-k-statement-on-allegations/

I want to address the stories told to the New York Times by five women named Abby, Rebecca, Dana, Julia who felt able to name themselves and one who did not.

These stories are true. At the time, I said to myself that what I did was okay because I never showed a woman my (penis) without asking first, which is also true. But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your (penis) isn’t a question. It’s a predicament for them. The power I had over these women is that they admired me. And I wielded that power irresponsibly.

I have been remorseful of my actions. And I’ve tried to learn from them. And run from them. Now I’m aware of the extent of the impact of my actions. I learned yesterday the extent to which I left these women who admired me feeling badly about themselves and cautious around other men who would never have put them in that position.

I also took advantage of the fact that I was widely admired in my and their community, which disabled them from sharing their story and brought hardship to them when they tried because people who look up to me didn’t want to hear it. I didn’t think that I was doing any of that because my position allowed me not to think about it.

There is nothing about this that I forgive myself for. And I have to reconcile it with who I am. Which is nothing compared to the task I left them with.

I wish I had reacted to their admiration of me by being a good example to them as a man and given them some guidance as a comedian, including because I admired their work.

The hardest regret to live with is what you’ve done to hurt someone else. And I can hardly wrap my head around the scope of hurt I brought on them. I’d be remiss to exclude the hurt that I’ve brought on people who I work with and have worked with who’s (sic) professional and personal lives have been impacted by all of this, including projects currently in production: the cast and crew of Better Things, Baskets, The Cops, One Mississippi, and I Love You Daddy (sic). I deeply regret that this has brought negative attention to my manager Dave Becky who only tried to mediate a situation that I caused. I’ve brought anguish and hardship to the people at FX who have given me so much The Orchard who took a chance on my movie and every other entity that has bet on me through the years.

I’ve brought pain to my family, my friends, my children and their mother.

I have spent my long and lucky career talking and saying anything I want. I will now step back and take a long time to listen.

Thank you for reading.

All that rage, then this happens.

“It’s just gross. He’s just a gross, crook, dirty, rotten, lying sack of s—,” he added, to thunderous applause from Colbert’s audience.

Hadn’t seen this when I posted his letter.
