Harvey Weinstein is a Scumbag, and Everyone Knew It

the Coreys? You know one of them is dead right?

Yea drug OD

Technically, if only accurate accusations are being levied, I have nothing to fear. I keep my hands to myself.

To me the “controversy” surrounding this image proves that Americans are way too sensitive when it comes to pictures of cocks and balls. I feel like if women are permitted to wear pink pussy hats in DC then guys should be able to draw pictures of dicks and balls in the sky over Okanogan County, Washington safe from the fear of accusations of harassment. It’s just the right thing to do. And your patriotic duty.

An unnamed source, who was present during the photo shoot, reportedly told Page Six, “Franken was clowning around, but it really isn’t funny.” The source added, “That’s his tactic, pretend like it’s all a big joke. Arianna was pushing his hands away. He was groping her. There was some fun attached to it, but she wasn’t enjoying it. She definitely told him to stop and pushed him away. … Franken stood there with his hand on her bottom for a long time, because there are numerous frames, each taken seconds apart, and his hand was there the whole time — his hand wasn’t just there for a quick moment.”

However, Huffington denied these accusations and said the pictures were for a TV sketch they did in 1996.

She said in the statement, “Al and I did a comedic sketch for Bill Maher’s ‘Politically Incorrect’ called ‘Strange Bedfellows,’ in which the whole point, as the name makes clear, was that we were doing political commentary from bed. This shoot was looking back at the sketch, and we were obviously hamming it up for comedic effect. … The notion that there was anything inappropriate in this photo shoot is truly absurd.”

Well, I guess that remains to be seen. Keeping in mind that we are in a unique position in the world and our country is the most unique place in the world, we are light-years ahead of most of the world. Even in what many progressives hold up as more ideal, progressive societies of Scandinavia, the patriarchy there is way more hard core than in the U.S.
It’s not a bad thing that the dinosaurs are having their asteroid attack, but the majority of accusations are skewing toward older men in older times when men were men and a woman knew her place.
I did say skewing so as to not imply any sort of perfection. And I have a daughter I am fiercely protective of, so I am making sure I am acutely aware of the environment. However, much of this piggish behavior is and has been frowned upon for a number of years now, so I think we are seeing the fruits of that starting to emerge. We aren’t perfect, of course and we won’t be, but we have made progress on this front, especially in this country.

What I do not want to do, is progress to a point where nobody can have a sense of humor or be afraid to use the most normal of gender pronouns in general public. The most common sense approach to this is the Golden Rule approach. I want to avoid the PC tendency of pretending things are not what they are sacrificed on the alter of fleeting emotion. And perhaps we should pause to see where we are before we go forward.

I hear you. @ “I guess that remains to be seen.” I think you’re responding to this comment.

I’ve been really shocked to hear about how egregious some of this has been. Way beyond flirtation, or some offensive comment. I was talking about people like Charlie Rose thinking it was OK to get naked his home office with a female co-worker, or show her some risque sexy film. Charlie Rose! PBS, Charlie Rose.

Not to say that some of these incidents seem more minor in comparison to real violent people. I made a comment very early in this thread about the problems with the #MeToo people conflating raunchy talk with rape. BUT Pat, the level of weird - doing naughty things to the office plants with a female audience kinda weird - That’s pretty WEIRD! That has really surprised me.

For sure. But I think we’ve had more of a look the other way, slap on the wrist, or “he said, she said” policy, maybe especially for some more powerful or famous people who think they’re above the rules. I don’t want to see people ruined over minor stuff and that can happen, but I there’s something positive in this if it makes the abusers realize that they can’t get away with it anymore.

True. There’s nothing new about it. We’ve had rules in the workplace about this for a long time. And people have been getting written up, and companies have been settling sexual harassment cases for a long time, too. You’d think that enough of that would have already caused people to be careful to keep it out of the office. I suspect that’s true of most people, really. For every woman who has a sexual harassment story, she’s likely worked with many, many men who DID NOT cross those lines.

Matt Lauer is the latest. He was immediately fired, no suspension. I was surprised by this one.

(I started a new thread)

Do you think Hannity may be getting a little nervous?

(Probably no Black, Transvestite Hookers working at Fox…so he’ll probably be okay…)

Didn’t know Hannity hired hookers. Seems like the guilty Catholic thing to do.

Just thought about it… Ironically hookers are more ethical than using your power over women to harass them. At least with a hooker it’s a mutual agreed to transaction (assuming no human trafficking or drug addiction/pimps).

Totally agreed.

I’m not especially inclined to hire a sex worker at any point in my life, but I’m not really sure why prostitution has to be illegal, with the nod to your final parenthetical statement as the key.

God forbids involvement with prostitutes because He knows such involvement is detrimental to both men and women. “For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil; But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death, Her steps lay hold of hell” (Proverbs 5:3-5 NKJV).

Prostitution not only destroys marriages, families, and lives, but it destroys the spirit and soul in a way that leads to physical and spiritual death. God’s desire is that we stay pure and use our bodies as tools for His use and glory (Romans 6:13). First Corinthians 6:13 says, “The body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.”

When the question is ever “why is X illegal” I estimate a 83% likelihood if you google “X bible” you’ll get your answer.

Edit: This is said with the context of 'Murica. I’d imagine if you move to another country just use their dominant religion and it works the same way

Side note, 47% of all statistics on the internet are made up on the spot.

Oh how the mighty have fallen! And they continue to drop like rocks. Matt Lauer now, who knows how many more? I think this may be the sea-change you spoke of and the reaping has just begun.
It’s sobering for sure as I flip through the annuls of my life wondering if I have done something wrong or something that can be misconstrued. I don’t think so and I am not powerful. My attention is caught, though and I am grateful to have not been a powerful person for who knows how I would have behaved. I’d like to think I would have taken the high road, but having never really had any power, I don’t know what power would do to me.
I can at least say at this point in time, even if I were thrust in to power, my sensitivity is peaking and at least for the time being, I wouldn’t even come close I would go out of my way to avoid even the appearance of sexual misconduct.
What I am uncomfortable is walking on these eggshells. I still want to be myself, but I am a terrible judge of self perception. I have gone back to basics in many ways. I just try to be nice to people and hope they are nice to me. I guess that’s about all I can hope for.
If it eases the burden of women, particularly those who have suffered, in the end I think it will be all worth it.

Are we assuming they aren’t underage?

Yes. Forgot that caveat. Hiring hookers in an ethical fashion is difficult. Lmao.

God bless this Sailor.

Have you guys noticed the total lack of the usual Congressional “Grandstanding” that occurs with National topics like this.

I think the silence is telling…
