Harvey Weinstein is a Scumbag, and Everyone Knew It

Nobody thats my point… Its hypothetical…everyones making big deal out of mundane shit. Not cool yes…worthy of ending someones career meh…

Including famous people in the current environment…?

And for the record, I think a broken jaw is more appropriate. But it’s hard to feel sorry for the same people who’ve spent their lives lecturing everyone else about morality and pretending to be above the plebeians.

:100: getting a asskicking is reasonable… But people coming out the woodwork decades later…than the public gets all butthurt wanting to ship X to ass touch island…nah sorry you had yur chance
All the sudden sexual harassment is trendy in Hollywood like adopting a Haitian kid

Because they have some divine right to work in those career fields? I don’t think it’s asking too much for a man to keep his hands to himself. How many of them have sisters, mothers, wives? Why should someone in those careers not be held to the same standard we hold any man, who actually considers himself a man?

Ask a rape victim if they think that’s the difference.

Damn…

Now Charlie Rose…

One of few people I watch on a consistent basis…

Great insights and overall information.

So it goes…

Mark my words, folks…

If Charlie Rose is “guilty”…we’ve just seen the beginning of this whole thing.

I dont either…what happened to the entire FOX news staff is fine by me. But people coming out wood work over Sly Stalone or every famous dude…cmon… Its wrong but at best its mostly misdemeanor $500 fine and a apology wrong… Not Bill Cosby benadryl & butt stuff wrong
At the end of the day talent trumps morals… R Kelly peed on a chic…gross… Then he made Ignition. Chris Brown beat Rihanna & so on & so on. Shit Ray Lewis killed a dude and hes a NFL hall of famer… Its just the new fad for people to act hurt over. Not all SH is the same is what I was getting at. Plus its EZ hush money for no name chics & dirty lawyers…all the sudden women feel its safe to tell a 30yr old story… Please they want Versace…not buyin it

You say talent triumphs morals, which I disagree with, but then refer to R Kelly and Chris Brown? Besides, peeing on people, beating women and killing people are not simple little moral issues. If I were a woman I wouldn’t want men being allowed to touch me for the price of 500 dollars. And the state is the one getting paid on top of that.

So it’s about politics? Fox News is a fine target, but others should be empowered to slap ass?

Nope just saying that…a lot of these cases are chics coming out the woodwork from 20+ yrs ago. I’m not buying it some big revolution. If a business fires somebody or sends them to sensitivity training sure. Or a dude gets his ass kicked for being a shmuck sure I get it. But when a chic shows up 20yrs later and says hey this dude grabbed my ass I gotta think shes wanting a payday or some kinda motive. Right left whatever I dont care but some never-ending lifetime criteria for all SH…pfft, please… Not all SH is the same… A misdemeanor ain’t the same as a felony. George Bush grabbing ass aint the same as Roy Moore chasing tween poon. So Im not lumping Franken and GB into the Weinstien bag… Sorry but not sorry.
And yea what I said about talent is true. Micheal Jackson allegedly touched kids…Yet he’s still regarded as the king of Pop and changed many lives for the best. Disgusting yes but as whole the public will forgive or let go when next big hit comes out. I guarantee Dallas Cowboys fans will be happy as a pig in shit if Zeek gets on the field and gets them in the playoffs… I’m not saying this is right… However, I’m a realist. It’s just how it is

Okay, you’re not saying it SHOULD be the way it is, just that this IS the way it is? I get that.

I’m also a bit skeptical of 20 year old claims unless the person was a minor at the time. We have statutes of limitation for a reason. These force people to bring their claims while memories are fresh and witnesses are available. There does seem to be a bit of a feeding frenzy in the press. I remember well the claims in the 1980s about widespread child molestation at day cares and schools, many of which turned out to be false or coerced after leading questions. Then we have the false memories revelations. In some respects this is a similar issue of the pendulum swinging a bit too far. Hopefully not too many innocent careers will be destroyed and they’ll get rid of the true abusers.

That’s exactly what I was saying… If a senator touches you why wait 20yrs? Women should rat out the dirt bags but it should be done when it happens so people can do more than just yap on TV. Same thing for dudes looks at Corey Haim trying to ride the Spacey gravy train alledging gay molesting stuff. What for?? Maybe free press, book deals, etc etc… I can see waiting a few months even a 1-5 yrs but decades?? Cmon man

I agree with your overall sentiment, but I fully believe that “the Coreys” (Haim & Feldman) were subjected to some pretty unspeakable stuff. I give them a pass for not coming out sooner because they were minors. Feldman’s been talking about it for a long time but only recently naming names. Haim was completely fucked up and ended up drinking himself to death (or popping pills).

About 30 year old memories, false memories. True. I thought about Elizabeth Loftus’s research on false memories. We humans aren’t nearly as accurate as we think so that’s a bit frightening.

That said, we seem to have some major problems in our culture that needed to be brought to light.

I’m honestly mixed in my thoughts on the cultural argument. I say this because some of these events (NYTs incident above is a good example) involve men and women drinking late at night. Sorry, but I don’t have much sympathy for drunk people receiving a lean in from another drunk person. Gossiping afterwards? That I have a problem with.

I noticed early on in my career that the smarter folks left bars earlier than others, and the ones that stayed the latest aren’t always looking for business connections. There is nothing wrong with that, but it can obviously create issues. I’ve also seen truly innocent men accused in some rather vindictive ways.

Don’t get me wrong, I have female friends and family who have been harassed (and I mean way over the top level of harassment) both by men (grabbing, cornering, etc.) and by women spreading “slut” rumors around the office. I’ve also seen professional women flirt shamelessly time and again to get work. I know some who hire nothing but very attractive women and they all work the room together and make great money doing so. Just don’t hit on my client shamelessly in front of me, get surprised when he responds, and then think you can hit on me to get out of that awkward situation (great story for another time). The problem is that the definition of harassment isn’t that clear. Hell, can I complement a coworker? How many signals does a guy need to receive to be allowed to ask a coworker for a drink? Then how many before he can touch a shoulder or lean in? If he reads her wrong is that harassment? Do women really have zero responsibility here? I think the answer is be careful of who you interact with. I’m not talking Weinstein casting couch garbage but legit, “how should we act” questions and these are questions I’ve heard from smart men time and again.

Then there is the issue of putting attractive professionals together in an office for long hours. People like sex. It happens. It’s normal. There is nothing wrong with sex, and yet some of these discussions approach the Puritan level of “ewww icky” silliness. People bang. Ask only when it seems you know the answer is “yes” and take “no” for an answer. Stop asking when she blows you off a time or two. Learn to take a hint. Learn to give a hint. Say “no” when you mean no. Stop flirting when you don’t mean it, and stop flirting as a business development tool. Leave. Walk away. Royal “you”s here obviously,

I guess my point being that this is behavior by individuals not society, but we seem to have a lot to work through.

Don’t dip the pen in company ink for sure. The more crass way to say that is: Don’t shit where you eat.

There are 3.5 billion women on earth. Find one to sleep with that doesn’t work with you. Simple stuff.

Feldman named his abusers to the police on record decades ago. He did it during the Micheal Jackson deal, and the police ignored his accusations and apparently never even investigated.
