JJ’s latest side project, they have one album out but doubt we’ll see more as the Cro Mags (just JJ, none of the other original members) are active again with a new album in the works.
Aside from the big name hardcore successes like Minor Threat,Black Flag, Descendents, Circle Jerks and the likes, the Crucifucks were a band that I felt really never took off but had incredible potential. Corbin’s screeching voice and vitriolic lyrics still make me grin like a big goofy motherfucker.
Their first album is the nuts, if, you can stomach his voice.
Eventually I gravitated towards the other side of the pond for my hardcore/punk needs but I still listen to all the 80’s stuff I listened to when I was a kid. By it’s very nature it never gets old or tiresome.
and good fucking thread by the way!
Any of you gaylords into Japanese hardcore?
Pretty sure they are the only ones doing it right anymore.
the energy is like 80’s & 90’s American hardcore with added Japanese insanity.
Don’t sleep.
metalic stuff
pukier stuff
a lot of punk bands make me angry by not standing for anything real. Iskra are insane, anarchic to the level that they were once giving out incorect lyrics and id3 tags withtheir music - so once you downloaded it, i tunes or media player would think it was something else
leper also kick ass
I wasn’t going to put any British punk in here as it’s not technically hardcore but in the spirit of punk - I couldn’t give a fuck. Don’t like it, suck a dick!

Subhumans
The legendary Crass
and for something a little different a French ska band called the Explorerz covering a skin classic

So because I love sharing my musical tastes with people and having others share theirs with me, I start this thread in a way to bring together lovers of Hardcore and it’s various sub genres. Feel free to share new music, classic favorites, live show stories, and anything that revolves around a music scene that is built around perseverance, strength, and brotherhood (much like this site)
Personally, I’ve always been most fond of the New York bands (Agnostic Front, Cro Mags, Warzone, etc.) and bands that are influenced by that style. Newer bands such as Cruel Hand, Terror, Alpha and Omega and Foundation have been fueling my workouts as of late.
Also, just to get things started off right, I highly recommend everyone checking out the site “hate5six.com” Full concerts for free in excellent quality from some of the best bands out there. They cover all the fests (New England Hardcore, Black N Blue, etc) as well so for those who can’t make it (yours truly) it’s a great way to witness some epic performances.[/quote]
my two cents, for whatever they’re worth: early af is absolutely sick. cro mags are great, and obviously deserve much respect for more or less “inventing” metallic hardcore, but i feel they’re slightly over-rated. warzone were good, but again, i feel they’re a little over-rated. regarding the new crop of “hardcore” bands you’ve listed, trust me, you’d be much better off listening to low threat profile, punch, or urban blight… but again, this is just my opinion. it probably stems from my love of early boston and dc bands over the new york style… but we both apparently agree on youth of today (probably because they were actually from ct). joe
I listen mostly to hardcore and punk…
My favorite sub-genres:
NYHC (GB, SOIA, AF, Madball, H2O)
Original SXE stuff (YOT, Minor Threat, Judge)
Classic punk (Ramones, Clash, Cock Sparrer)
I pretty much love most of it as long as it doesn’t lean too much to the metal side of things.
I presently play in a band called Debtor… Check out this thread:

My truck has a bumper sticker from their shop on it. Given to me by Vinnie.
big fan of all the NYHC and DC stuff. Even still get into the early Cali stuff a little (Batallion of Saints, Agent Orange, DI) when I am in a certain mood. Agnostic Front, Cro Mags, Murphy’s Law, etc, have been the primary soundtrack to my life since 84 or so. Also like the Brit stuff, seen the Business many times and count them as friends.
Thats awesome Pete! Jimmy G and I are from the same areas in Queens, and he was actually pretty cool with my sister. I met Vinny at the shop once I introduced myself and said I was a big fan yadda yadda, but he swore he knew me from somewhere, I wish he did, he was a really cool guy…unfortunately the 2 artists that have done most of my work are MIA…
I know what you mean about the soundtrack of your life, thats how I feel about H2O.

I’ve hung with Jimmy G several times between 87 or so and early 2000s. Usually resulting in me not able to function for 24 hours after.
Vinnie is a hoot, he and I drove around Minneapolis a few years ago crank calling common friends while we got him some, well, anyway I won’t say what…
Henderson is from around here originally, hung back in the day, just saw he’s part of some new supergroup looks to be promissing…

S.O.S. my next post was going to be about these guys, I’ve heard a few tracks. They’ve got the singer from Terror, so it could easily be mistaken as Terror at times.
Also, I see H2O is working on a covers album of all their influences, could be good.
i prefer new school hc like defeater, modern life is war, carpathian, more than life, verse, have heart, bane, killing the dream, the carrier, …

Speaking of hardcore- Journey, Foreigner and Styx are all playing together tonight at the SECC in Glasgow. I lol’d.
