Some months ago, I commented that BlueBrasil’s name made me think of Basil Fawlty. He was cool with that.
BTW, my grandmother was a Burns, so I’m at least one quarter Scottish.
excellent. your’re not any good at football are you? we could do with a few decent players, and you do qualify to play for Scotland. I’ll inform the scouts at once.
I am crappy at football, sorry. As I found out in my youth when I was the last one chosen for the team in high school PE every time. On the other hand, I have put on some muscle since then.
Wait a minute - do you mean Football football or soccer? Or rugby?
Speaking of painters, I’m reminded of a bit in the book Muscle: Confessions of an Unlikely Bodybuilder. The author describes his experience in lifting. One of his new friends mentions he’s a painter. Our hero, having grown up in universities and culture, immediately thinks of da Vince and van Gogh. He asks “So what do you do? Portraits? Landscapes?” “Nah” the other guy says. “Mostly supermarkets and banks.”
Actually, Bluebrasil, this is the first time anyone invited me to join a sports team, so I’m honored. Just not used to it.
My brother sent me a dab of money so I went to a restaurant and pigged out on Turkey Day. Boston Market this time, they have tasty stuff. Later, went to the apartment’s health center and spent half an hour on the elliptical. Watched a very funny Simpson’s episode while pedalling, it’s the one where Homer gets a new job. The place is really swank and hi tech, the boss is super cool and gives him lots of encouragement. Then the phone beeps and the boss says, “Excuse me Homer, I have to take this.” He faces a video screen of the UN assembly and says “This is Scorpio! Deliver one billion dollars in gold or I detonate the doomsday device!!” At dinner Homer tells his family his job’s going swell. “We’re way ahead of the weather control and germ warfare departments.”
Had a great night’s sleep and was raring to go today. I know, you’re not supposed to do deads 2 days apart, but I couldn’t resist. (Is this certifiable?)

Football. The game where you kick a ball with your foot.
Formally known as Association Football
Soccer indeed! soccer schmocker
We’ll take anyone who has a Scottish parent, grandparent or owned a Scottie dog, ate shortbread or ever heard the pipes being played

Gosh, I’m honored you have such high standards for recruitment:
So nobody running into each other? No concussions? No bone crunching? Sounds pretty boring.

Thanks very much. Just wish I had known 30 yrs ago what I know today, things would’ve been a lot easier… but we all want that, don’t we?
Squat day:
115 lbs x 8
155 x 7
205 x 5
205 x 5
205 x 5
Maintaining from last week, will try going up next time.
Reverse ab crunches x 15 x 13
No heart flutter or palpitations, my conditioning must be getting better.
Just got the application for the contest. It’ll be my first weightlifting competition. Any tips?

yes to all, but only accidentally, not deliberately as in your version of football

Cav, finally got caught up in here, so good luck not getting the teaching parttime job, and last two pages of workouts seem to have several PRs in there, so things (carbs) are looking up :-))
Hi, Lil, thanks for stopping by. Well, 99% sure I’ll get the job, just have to find something else to fill in.
Yeah, things are looking up, they’re flat on their back (bah-dah-bump). I keep making tiny baby steps, but still so far from my goals. Can’t believe how touchy my body is, just a few bites of food or a little extra sleep makes the difference between crap workout and outstanding.

Good news - Kicked up my carbs and had piece of cake.

Excellent work on the PR’s Cav, cake works wonders sometimes.
??? Where did that come from? I didn’t have cake. Did I write “workout was a piece of cake” or something? Or are you “gaslighting” me, like the old movie? “The lights are going out!!” “No, they’re not, you’re going crazy!!”
dropped down on these from last time, they were just crushing me - frustrating!!!

Looks like last time you just did Bench before OHP and this time you threw in Dips and Inc DB’s. I would imagine your shoulders were giving you the “finger” when it came time to OHP. Probably explains why they were more difficult.
