How cool, hope you had the golden tongue for your interview!
Cav- Hit it out of the Park!!!
Be positive Cav. Think of all the supporters you have on here, and pretend you are talking to them not to some interviewer dude. Good luck.
Colin paying it forward - a class act.
good luck with your interview
dips- are great
bench dips put your shoulder in a bad position just saying
No big deal Bro, I just got him the interview. Killing it is up to Cav!
Thanks again Colin for getting me the interview. I think I handled it OK, although a couple of the questions threw me. C’mon - NOBODY can put together a SQL JOIN statement off the top of his head. Managed to get my way through it. Thanks for the support, everyone.
Meanwhile. Got another email from a recruiter in another state. She constantly notifies me of openings in her area. The requirements are ALWAYS perfect for my background. She submits me and NOTHING - no response at all. Today was the umpteenth position which read like it came off my resume. Once again, I ask her to submit me. Why does nobody respond? What sense does this make?
Good luck Cav.
Have you also been looking for contract IT work? There is decent money in it (according to my friends) and it is always easier to find a job when you already have a job.
Congrats on getting the interview in.
Had my spell of unemployment, didn’t like it.
Redid my resume, now I am getting interviews when not looking. Let’s hope that continues when I am looking lol.
Also redid my oldest sons, he is a QA tester. He went from looking and looking to having a job in 48 hours.
Not saying I am a master at it but if you want another set of eyes I am willing to help.

Keep your head up.
Thanks, Git. I’ve done a ton of contract work and really want to get away from it, if you like the job, it ends anyway and you’re back to looking for work. On that note, I’m applying for contracts as well as perms because I need something. Oh, and the money isn’t always that great. You may have heard of someone getting $100 / hr, but that’s really rare.
Pete, thanks very much. I feel your pain. Good luck on your interviews, it’s true, some places don’t even look at you nowadays if you’re unemployed. If you ask around, I’d appreciate it, will PM you.
Bulldog, thanks.
Keep your spirits up Cav. I was in your position not too long ago and something came through. It will with you, just not when you want it to.
Username, it better be sooner than later.
Rent is going to eat me alive, and I either get something in a couple of months or I cut my wrists. Holiday season is coming up, might have to got to the stores and get a cashier’s job, however, have heard after the market crash, places are just packed with applications from people who can’t find anything else.
Went to the gym twice today. Did arms both times. Pullups with feet on bench, dips with feet on bench, arm curls, tri pulldowns, etc. Did the same thing Tues.
Lost 5 lbs BW in 3 days.
Just checking in Cav, nice fact around the holidays it is the easier to get hired. Nice to see your moving forward.
Dude, you’re right about the stores hiring at the holidays, that’s how I got an emergency job some years ago. Don’t want to think about it - they worked my butt off and only paid minimum wage.
Triceps sore from yesterday - duh. So were abs, surprisingly. Seriously, even when I try isolation work, it carries over.
Occurred to me it’s been over a week since my last DL workout, and the right time to test my max. Previous max 5 weeks ago was 305. Oh, OK. The warmup sets went well, felt pretty light, good and rested up.
Then put 3 plates on each side for 315 and PULLED. Almost . . . so close . . . halfway up, then just wouldn’t go any further.
Took it down to 310 and tried it. * * * PR * * * PR * * * (Holy shit, I never knew my face could turn that color.) Impressed the heck out of my friend, who was benching and admitted he couldn’t lift that much. Back feels sooooo good. Very happy.
Did some shoulder work, really fired up, they should be good and sore tomorrow.
Grats on the big PR!
Nice work Cav, nothing like a PR!!! 315 will be toast soon enough!!

Nice one cav…
Nurse, thanks.
Goat, I can’t wait. I want it so badly.
Colin, thanks very much. It wasn’t a big PR, but a PR nonetheless and I’ll take it. Now if I can just get my squat up to 300 . . . and, dare I say it? . . . bench to 300? By the way, after seeing you last week, I have this renewed fire to work my arms to death.
A ray of hope. Just got a notice that I might qualify for an extension of unemployment benefits. Will send the application tomorrow. I think the worst part of all this (other than get evicted from the apartment) is having to shut down lifting until finances clear up. I just can’t bear doing that.
I’m starting to get a taste of strength. I’m looking in the mirror and starting to see muscles. For the first time, I’m getting a glimpse of what’s possible and I just can’t give that up. Until they come up with a cure for it, I’m doing this for life.
Congrats on the PR and the muscle growth. That’s definitely very good news.
I wish you luck in the job search. You just have to stick with it. I’m sure that it’s very stressful between rent, groceries, etc. I do like Pete’s mention about redoing the resume too.
