Congrats on the PR! and that conversation is just too funny
You’re on a roll lately, PR’s everywhere. Very nice.
Congrats on the PR, we’ll be waiting on 185.
nice work.
good PR.
Soldog, isn’t it funny how age looks less and less like a problem?
thanks, Dday. Hope I keep rolling.
Joe, I’m so desperate to get my bench up, you folks will be the first to know.
KM, thanks.
Deadlifts today. Did warmups with grip opposite to what I normally do, see if need to work out imbalances. Oddly, the only thing that reacted was my left bicep - it yelled bloody murder. Settled down, though.

Late to the party this week–but nice work cav.
Mm getting the conversation about using other squat elements to get lower, what seems to be working for me are goblet squats with either kb or db.
Cav, great to see how you have pulled out of the doldrums. Good job.

x2
I think a lot of people could use goblet squats in their routine. Doing them right after back squat can be a hellish experience.
Steve, thanks. The doldrums come and go, being out of work and getting nowhere with interviews is pounding my confidence. Thank God for unemployment compensation. And medication.
Nurse and Joe, thanks. Regular squats are already pretty punishing, thank you very much. Might look at goblet squats. I need work at the bottom, and exaggerated sumo deads really work that.
Been experimenting with a digestive aid, interesting results. don’t feel so bloated after meals, not so hungry all the time. Waking up fresh early in the morning - never been a morning person before.
Damn! I missed all of the PRs!
Congrats on the 300x1 dead. 3 bills is a huge milestone! Awesome…
Also, on the bench PR. It is obvious that you are working it consistently. And it is paying off!
Thanks, Strick. You’re welcome to drop by anytime.
And yes, I have to keep the PR’s up. Your missus is catching up to me!
Your on a roll Cav, congrats and keep it goin.
Wasn’t 275 a meet PR for you? Now you’re pulling it for a smooth triple. I think you found whatever it was you were missing, now you’re smashing the weight.
Hitting your previous PR for 3 sets of 3 is awesome. That’s some great progress!!
What’s your plan for progression on deads from here on look like? Dropping to doubles? or adding some volume?
Thanks very much, Matty. Hope I can keep it going.
Yep, Dday, 275 was my meet lift two months ago. Maybe I’ve finally lucked onto a good training, diet, sleep, etc, routine.
Brett, you’re too kind. My plan? Hmmm. . . . you know, I’ve spent so many years following plans and getting so frustrated when I could never keep up with what I was supposed to be doing. It was like “but I HAVE to get 8 reps of 125 pounds today, that’s the schedule, oh God, don’t tell me I got WEAKER!!! . . .”
Right now, simple plan. A hard day of squats, then a couple of days light work. A hard day of bench, couple days light. A hard day of deads, two or three days light. Thus giving myself plenty of recovery time for the tough stuff but lots of exercise. On the hard days, just do as much as possible. I did triples yesterday simply because I could. The first triple felt good enough to do another. The second felt good enough to do another. The third didn’t feel good enough to do another, so I dropped weight. Voila - my back was totaled.
Light work includes squat, bench, dead, but at lo weight and higher volume, as well as misc stuff.
A lot of it’s psychological - it’s way too easy for me to get discouraged by over-expectations.
I can’t read, 275x3x3!!! Did not notice that before, holy growth spurt! You taking the creatinze? You know that’s steroids right…j/k.
Someone is busy in here. You should be so proud!
I go back and forth from Im so not a morning person to “why am I up so early, this is nice”
hang in there with the job stress, take it out on the iron.
Hey Cav, great work!
Persistence will pay off.
Did you read the recent articles on squats on T-Nation? They really helped me with my form, especially with getting lower.
Nice work making gains on the deads. To triple your previous max is huge.
Glad to see you flatten your back right before you pull.
Thanks, Dday, yes, I’m taking the creatine, and multi-vitamin, and fish oil, and supplement. Must be growing, had to go to the store yesterday and buy some new pants. 46 inch waist . . . gagg, what’s happening to me?
Thanks, Upscale, yes, I’m happy!
2busy, I did read one of the articles, got a lot of info from it which I’m using.
FINALLY!!! I pleased the picky Snapper!! Pop the champagne!!
