Happy Birthday America!

You sure? They won’t shut you down, will they?

Who knows what they’ll do. It’s July 4th. Let’s spin the wheel of freedom and see where it lands.

I’ve… seen things you people wouldn’t believe… Frog lickers on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched d-bags glitter in the dark all over the Testosterone Gate.

All those… moments… will be lost in time,

like tears…

Independence and liberty forever!

I kept my eyes open during the opening prayer of a small-town Texas high school football game one Friday night. In the midst of that obvious social faux pas - I saw a meteorite screaming across the sky.

Since then - I have made a point of never closing my eyes during a prayer.

For the record. My arms and back are much bigger than that unfortunate day back in 2006-7.

Ahem…So yeah, bbq and fireworks.

I’m with you, getting some ribs ready right now.

We bought $400 worth of fireworks. Thank God for Woodford Reserve and an ample supply of water.

Ah, well. I guess no serious discussion will ensue until well after the barbecued meat has been digested and the last of the fireworks have been tossed in the water bucket. Guess I’ll go and contemplate the mysteries of how our great nation (America, that is) has come to such a pass.

Incidentally, Chushin, if you’re still watching this thread, have you ever seen this manga? It was created by Toriyama Akira, the creator of Dragonball Z. Not many people know about it, evidently.

Yeah, well, I’m just going to drink my Woodford.

God Bless America. Not the America of today - but the America that our Founders envisioned. I firmly believe the latter is possible in spite of the lovers of the former’s attempt of kill the former.

Alright, alright. What are we celebrating?

  1. For some, the way it could’ve been. But I suppose it would bee a day of mourning, in their case. Done and gone.

  2. For others, a necessary start. But, hey, thank goodness for overdue consideration of economic justice. Time to celebrate.

Woodford, huh? For some reason I imagined you drinking something else.

By the way, isn’t it ironic that Lynchburg is a “dry” county.

After all, they get plenty of precipitation.

Bourbon County, KY is my Mecca. I should go there just to let them put a face to their customers.

I know for a fact I have put no less than 5 of their children through college. That, in addition to the spawn of my own loin.

I’m gonna go with 1.5 on your scale.

There are those who know the failure of the intent of the Originalists, yet pray for some divine intervention to the return of their principals.

And there the younguns who can rise above the cradle-to-grave dependence on the nanny-state governance of today to see the fresh air of true freedom our fore-fathers envisioned.

I can only pray I have enough time and ammunition to breathe the air of true freedom before I die.

Man, my “clues” must have really sucked (or you missed the boat), because you are exactly who we thought you were.[/quote]

To be honest - I’ve missed almost every boat that has landed at my pier for the entirety of my considerably long life. However, I heralded the call of one such signal and it yielded me more financial recompense than I could have ever hoped for.

It has been my goal since then to open my ears and my mind to even the most subtle of voices.

I am humbled in shame that I did not hear yours. My apologies.
