Get a couple bottles of decent whisky or a crate of beer, take them to the nearest freeway, first one to other side and back wins the booze…

Same here. There is no reason not to treat homeless people with the same respect we give to others. I don’t run into homeless people often, but I do give them food when I do run into them, and I donate to local shelters and soup kitchens and such. I know what it is like to starve, and no one should have to go through that.
where I live, Birmingham alabama, if you see a panhandler, they are usually part of a professional group that does this for 8 hours a day then pools the money between the memebers… the real homeless know where the soup kitchens, and other places like that are… once I got more involved with these options, i learned about that, so i never give money cause odds are they are pros…
I will hand out food though… or if someone looks confused I keep a bussiness cards with directions on where to go to get help…

Maybe treat them like any other human being? If you want to get to know them, do so. If not, ignore them just like anybody else you come across. If you live in a rough area, walking around at night will dangerous no matter what, so you may want to think about carrying around mace or a taser.
Correct. Nothing special, just the ‘Golden Rule’.
Or you can move out of the ghetto.
