Half of Men Wish They Were Dead

Correct, I own two.

You should know this.

Didn’t you vote in absentia when you were in the Corp?

My brother voted as a resident of Pennsylvania for his entire career (master chief, retired).

Cool, me too.

See above for justification

Yes, for the town which i owned a house in while i was deployed.

Meaning i still had skin in the game.

But you weren’t there! And there was nothing saying you would be back any time soon. Deployments get extended, duty stations get moved.

I guess that would make you kind of a dick, but as it stands you’re within your right to do so. I’d say it’s morally ambiguous as to whether or not it’s good or bad.

How about a different hypothetical? Suppose one decides home ownership is a pain in the ass, sells their home and rents a condo instead. They are still a permanent resident, involved in the community more than most people, and have no intentions to leave. They’d rather just leave the management to someone else and money isn’t a factor. (I know this person). Should they relinquish their right to vote?

How high do you have to score on the asvab to enlist as a marine?

Last I saw, it was about 30ish.

Yep.

My bro never bought a house in his 30 years of service because he knew his duty station was going to change every 3 years.

Right, but my wife, daughter, house, and every other worldly possession I had was.

I think that’s enough to say I had a stake in the outcome, perhaps you disagree.

You are more interested in attacking the poster than the post. If you can’t adjust fire, I’m just going to stop responding to you as these back-and-forths are making me not like you as a person.

They’re your presumptious grasps at status.

Stop doing that and I’ll stop blowing holes in them.

Isn’t this like men being there for other men?

I’m giving you feedback.

Hey @zecarlo what was your asvab?

Mine was 88, but I was all highed up and just wanted to skip class, so I did that instead.

I don’t necessarily agree with this, but I do think there should be some stipulations for voting.

If you are on the government dole and contribute nothing but a drain, you should not be allowed to vote. You are a biased voter bought by the government and are going to vote for whoever gives the most free shit back to you.

I know this won’t be a popular opinion, but I don’t care.

That and drug testing.

Without a medical waiver, that would eliminate a massive number of people.

A real waiver too, not like “I suffer from the human condition…”.

Two?

It seems like the nature of elections to me. New policy usually has winners, losers and those unaffected. The candidate that brought that new policy was voted on by all three of those parties.

I don’t think it’s ambiguous, I think it’s voting for laws which will affect others and not yourself - which inherently violates the Rule of Law… something I have an issue with.

I couldn’t imagine a way in which this wouldn’t still leave the power of the vote up to those whom have no provable ‘stake’ in the outcome of the election. I think it would have to be evidence-based proof of stake in order for it to work.
If they really wanted to vote that badly, they could just opt to buy a house and get the benefits which come with it. (I’ve stated previously that this would not work for cities like Manhattan, where no one owns houses… it’s a fly in the ointment)

you’re the one doing the presuming.

we can just stop this interaction. I’m discussing while you’re throwing shit and frankly I’m not a fan.

“Lets remove peoples rights!”

“No.”

" WAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"

It was over a hundred posts back man.

It wasn’t “no”, it was deliberate name calling and insults.

Disengaging.

So you can flail shit at peoples service and enlistmen, residence, gender, etc. Which you did, specifically.

But when it comes back at you its all pouty lips and such!

The irony here is fucking delicious.

I participated in good faith when the topic was male suicide.

This whole tangent about voting and rights and what ever other embittered bullshit is something else.
