Hair loss on Dreca and Finasteride

So, I’m an idiot. I did not realize until recently that taking finasteride while on Deca does not limit hair loss, BUT rather increases it. Once I landed that, I immediately stopped taking both the Deca and the oral finasteride. I have cut out the Deca for now, and I am just taking testosteronek cypionate at 300 mg per week divided into three administrations. My question is, when can I start taking oral finasteride and topical Dutasteride again without having the Deca interfere with their processes? I have read the Deca can remain in the system for upwards of a month after stopping. Do I need to wait a month before reuniting my hair hair loss protocol?

Accept hair loss or stop taking steroids. The side effects of dht blockers isn’t worth it.

Deca metabolites can remain in the body more thana year. Does that mean it will mess with the finatriside? Could not tell you.
Deca will “clear” the system in 6 or so half lives. That is the mion time to wait.
I also agree with @antimadder here. Finasteride can have some nasty side effects. I would steer clear. If you are prone to MPB and you wanna take gear your fighting a losing battle.

Agree with both posters above. If you are already seeing your hairline moving backwards, or beginning to see more of your scalp at the crown of your head, it’s already begun! Then, if you add steroids on top of it, that will just greatly accelerate the timeline for your MPB (male pattern baldness)….sadly, it’s inevitable if you’re already noticing it.

If you truly want to try and hold onto your hair, or at least halt the loss, you gotta stop taking steroids/testosterone and get on a 2X daily regimen of applying topical Rogaine to your head. That actually will work, but ya gotta religiously apply it 2x a day. If you stop, run out, get lazy, then the already genetically planned hair loss will begin shedding hair again. And no, there isn’t any other way…If you are considering taking, or already taking Propecia/finasteride…..THROW THAT SHIT AWAY! I never took it thank god, but please google PFS, or post finasteride syndrome, that shit sounds awful! I had a good friend that desperately wanted to retain his hair at any cost, but he regretted ever getting on Propecia as the side effects were god awful. For him, Propecia completely fucked up his libido, his ability to get hard, and often when he did, he’d lose it sometimes after just barely starting to go at it. It was difficult for him to finish, and just generally ruined his entire sexual life! The Propecia also gave him some of the other symptoms listed below. I’d rather be bald but able to perform in bed vs. having a full head of hair but my dick won’t work.

PFS symptoms can vary widely and may include:

  • Sexual dysfunction (e.g., erectile dysfunction, loss of libido, delayed ejaculation)

  • Cognitive difficulties (e.g., brain fog, memory loss)

  • Mood changes (e.g., anxiety, depression)

  • Physical symptoms (e.g., joint pain, fatigue)

Thank you. Yes – I stopped the oral finasteride about two weeks ago after I realized that taking it in combination with deca was only making things worse. Although I was only on finasteride for about eight weeks, I absolutely noticed a reduction in my libido as well as a reduction in my overall drive / sense of well being. Appreciate the advice you’ve given, and I’m not inclined to hop back on it. I asked my wife the other day which she would prefer… Her husband with Hair or husband who feels good looks good and performs well in the bedroom. Her answer was swift and clear. She does not give a shit about my hair.

With that said, how about topical Dutasteride? Some of the research I have read indicates that it does not become systemic and remains mostly in the scalp. Do any of you have any thoughts / experience with that?

I have heard that it can work, yes, but I am more familiar with Rogaine as it is a tried and true, proven, method for treating MPB. Regardless of what topical you choose, just remember what I said above, once you start treatment, you will need to adopt sticking to an application regimen just as strict as brushing your teeth….hell, even stricter! If you accidentally pass out and forget to brush your teeth, it’s not a huge deal, but forgetting/skipping applications of Rogaine can very quickly get those hair follicles to start shedding again. I think of this treatment as a very weak bandaid…and to be honest, what your wife said is the exact same thing my wife said. Women, for the most part (and especially if they are older or already your gf/wife) don’t really give a shit about men’s hair. Those that do, well, nothing you can do there, but MOST wouldn’t reject a guy just for that. And like your wife, mine said she’d rather me be jacked, happy, full of energy, positive, and able to perform in the bedroom vs. taking a Propecia but having mood, performance, etc. issues.

I bought one of those skullshaver things awhile back and it takes me about 1 minute to buzz my head. It makes it even easier to get ready each morning and you stay cooler in the summertime. Next time you are out and about, just make an effort to really look at the dudes around you. You will quickly see that A LOT of men 40-50 and older have shaved/buzzed heads, and even some dudes younger than that. Then realize that they’re walking around with no worries/confidence issues and the people around them aren’t like gawking at their hairless heads. It’s not a huge deal these days, it’s much more accepted and less “taboo” to not have hair. Read the statistics too, something like 75% of men experience some form of MPB in their lives. And if you look at guys like 60 and older, it is much more rare to see guys WITH a full head of hair.

Or, book you a trip to Turkey, I have 2 friends who did and got hair transplants done there for like $2-3,000 bucks and their heads now have a full head of hair. They are experts at it as so many foreigners go there to do that, and once you get hairs transplanted from the back/sides of your head to the top, they never stop growing because in some cruel, sick joke, god designed our head hair on top to disappear, yet the hair on the back and sides of our head NEVER fall out…how shitty is that?

Hey, I really appreciate your advice, recommendations, and encouragement. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my questions so thoroughly. Thank you.

No problem! I’ll also leave with, have you ever noticed that A LOT of bodybuilders, or just guys who workout but are also taking PEDs, tend to have shaved heads? It’s no coincidence, it’s just an unfortunate (and goddam ironic) result of their higher than normal levels of Dihydrotestosterone in their bodies, which tend to greatly piss off hair follicles ONLY on the head. Yet it seems that hair on all other parts of the body actually grow MORE/FASTER at the same time. But as I said, you gotta pick your poison. Better to be muscular, able to perform in the bedroom vs being small/flabby, depressed, and unable to get it up. Just a damn shame that something has to suffer. But just stay away from Propecia, it causes many more problems than it solves. Rogaine works but you have to basically remember to do it 2X daily for as long as you wish to have hair.

2 general comments.

Transplants will not stop hair loss.
Gear does not “cause” hair loss, there is a genetic component.

My understanding is that finasteride will block the conversion of deca into DHN which is the more hair friendly version of a downstream metabolite.

The only two that really concern body building and anabolics are Test to DHT and Nandrolone to DHN via 5a-reduction. Yes other hormones are converted from the enzyme. As far as OP and hairless I’ve never heard of Finasteride making it worse with Nandrolone. Effectively it blocks conversion to DHN and DHT.
