Gut Health! Sort of a Log

Does that seem a bit strange to you? What form have you supps been taking (eg: capsules, loose leaves, etc)? Could it be that anything in your stomach right now would provoke a reaction?

I only ask because when my IBS was bad, even a glass of water would cause bloating.

I have been cutting just now so I’m living on a diet of chicken breast, spinach, steak and cold potatoes. Digestion was fine, improving even, so I decided to cut a little more aggressively and add green tea pills. From the first day I was getting random attacks of diarrhea during the day (that’s significant because I only ever get it in the morning usually), so I stopped the green tea and it stopped.

I did a bit of googling and it does appear that other people have had this problem, although nobody really knows why it happens.

That’s crazy that a half of a gram or so could cause such a reaction.

On a side note, I went out last night and had veal piccata with a side of angel hair aglio e olio. I usually don’t eat the pasta, but was ravenous so I finished it off. Big mistake.

I absolutely destroyed the restaurant’s bathroom 15 minutes later. I would hear people walk in and gasp when the stench hit them. In between the stomach cramps, I couldn’t help but notice a certain sense of pride start to well up.

man, if it’s only taking 15 minutes for something like that to happen you must have some pretty serious issues!

I used to have the same issue when eating pasta.

Yeah, my gastrocolic reflex goes bonkers sometimes. Pasta, uncooked vegetables, and amber beers are all triggers. Don’t ask me why amber beers, I can’t figure it out myself.

When my stomach is bloated, I can eat all the spicy food and drink all the hard alcohol I want, but God help me if an uncooked carrot passes my lips.

Do you no longer have the problem or do you no longer eat pasta?

don’t worry about it, spicy food and hard alcohol are way better than carrots anyway

Started the monolaurin, berberine and NAC today, with my first serving of Bionic Fibre last night. Will report back in a week as to how that’s going.

Have some peppermint oil arriving this week too which I’ll add in when it arrives.

So, I’ve posted this somewhere else in this forum but thought I’d re-post my question here, since this fantastic thread has good traffic.

Has anyone had any success using apple cider vinegar to alleviate acid reflux-like symptoms etc.? I’ve been trying now for about five days and can’t yet tell if it’s making a difference, but I’m unsure as to whether I’m “dosing” correctly.

berberine for the win…

are you using peri workout supps?

What about indigo? taht could help the inflammation issue.

Personally, I’ve had tremendous success with berberine, monolaurin and Jarrow Formulas, Saccharomyces Boulardii + MOS, 90 Capsules. basically was getting fatter despite a pretty much perfect diet. I had greens coming out of my ears and still no abs in sight!

My only gripe is that the above combo slightly increases anxiety, but this can be easily addressed with a bit of tyrosine/bacopa.

I’m glad to hear you say that you’ve had good success with the monolaurin and berberin. My peppermint oil arrived today so I’ll be adding that to the mix as of tomorrow. That should nuke the bad guys and allow the goodies to frolic.

I’ve seen that SB stuff recommended all over the place, but I decided to go with the Prescript Assist soil based probiotic as freetheanimal.com and Chris Kesser both wax lyrically about it.

I don’t use any pre workouts (don’t like them) or indigo (can’t afford it).

Do you still have issues or did you manage to get it under control?

since adding that bionic fibre, my turds have been majestic. A glory to behold.

If this keeps up, I’ll be able to stop buying toilet paper.

I no longer eat pasta.

Anyone drink kombucha? What’s the general consensus?

Are you referring to RS when you say bionic fibre?

I googled it and I got this Hersteller von Kunststoff-Granulaten und Cable Compounds - Melos GmbH and as I was reading the description of the product (thinking of shite of course) it was making sense, then I realised what it was lol

If it works, I’ll try it but you have to order it in 20 kilo bags.

No no no, didn’t you read that Dr BG link I posted?

Bionic fibre is:

-1 tbsp psyllium
-1 tbsp potato starch

For some reason, combining the two seems to increase the effectiveness of each and makes them easier to tolerate. No gas or anything like that. Before I started combining the RS with the psyllium, anything more than a couple of teaspoons gave me horrific sides, but now I can use a big ole heaped teaspoon of the shit with nary even a fart.

Apparently the psyllium helps the RS spread butyrate further down your gut.
