Gun Policy in the USA

See, those reasons for ANY level of gun ownership are pure bullshit. Children (and adults, but children are the go to emotional appeal) will still die for what your yourselves see as a hobby. Nope. Stupid, idiotic reasons for keeping guns legal. Self-defense doesn’t even look good when you actually start looking at numbers.

But not self defense if it’s wearing a government uniform.

Well, that’s like your opinion man.

I think the number of times someone successfully used a gun for personal defense is a lot higher than the number of times someone successfully used a gun against government troops.

That would be legally incorrect. The courts have already ruled that a citizen can use deadly force against the police under certain conditions.

"…Or, put another way, 1.2 million scenarios in which there was potential for someone to kill in self-defense.

Oh, and match those 259 justifiable homicides with the theft of about 232,000 guns each year, about 172,000 of them during burglaries. That’s a ratio of one justifiable homicide for every 896 guns put in the hands of criminals."

So we do have the right to self defense against tyranny.

I don’t think that would be the defense to shooting a cop, or anyone.

So I was right.

I didn’t say cops, you did. I said in government uniforms. As in invasion or brutal oppression.

Sure, if you were saying that self defense was also bullshit.

Huh? Is there a movement afoot to start housing soldiers in private homes without the consent of the homeowner during peacetime(I guess we’d have to not be involved in everything in the world for this to be applicable)? During war, soldiers can be quartered in private homes in a manner prescribed by law.

Edit: I have to wonder whether “no soldier” really means “no soldier,” though. I have to think it probably means that only one soldier at a time should be housed in private homes without the owner’s consent during peacetime.

Do cops wear NBA uniforms? Regardless, I was talking about a court of law.

If that’s how you view the value of your life.

Um, read the article. Gun ownership for self defense is romantic folly, rofl. It endangers FAR more than it protects. It’s not even close to a break even wash out. It’s a flat out danger to the public. And of course it would also be self defense to fight a brutal and oppressive regime.

So now your only justification for keeping guns legal at all is “fun.” Children’s lives, the cost of fun!

I lived in the ghetto so my views on self-defense will be different than a suburbanite’s.

Whether or not you exercised your right to self-defense legally will be decided by a court. The court of that oppressive regime.

I have some redneck in me. Don’t hate.

Then you know that the self defense crap is fantasy. All those self-defense level handguns involved in near nightly shootings.

I grew up trailer trash surrounded by rednecks.

Actually, I don’t know that. I do know what it’s like to need a gun and not have one.
