Typo on the trigger. This is it, btw. Damn thing is nuts for $65. (At least in dry fire.)
Nice job on the AR. It came out nice. Are you going to put an optic on it?
Handloading is not hard or dangerous. If you are shooting a rifle, just make sure the brass is trimmed and you actually weighed your powder charge. When developing loads, start low and work up. Sure accidents can happen, but there’s a lot of incidents of factory ammo blowing up in guns, so eye protection is a must. If you are interested in accuracy, it’s almost a must, and can save a lot of money if you shoot a lot.

Thanks.
Yeah, I’ll get a red dot when I can group with the irons. It isn’t going to be a bench gun, and I’m not much of a bench shooter. Shit is pretty boring IMO. Just isn’t for me right now.

The Aimpoint PRO is one worth looking at. It’s not cheap, but not as expensive as some of the other ones, and a good value/performance red dot.
lol, My buddy is convinced it is going to blow up when I shoot it because “you’re an accountant, not a gun smith, better have someone look at it.”
The upper came assembled from BCM, so I’m going to go out on a limb and assume it’s good to go, and I can see the fowling on the bolt where they tested it… Plus the guy that pinned and welded the comp checked it out and said it was GTG.
All I put together is the lower, which is like legos… If I can’t get that right (it all tests as a “go” in dry fire function testing) then I’m at a loss for how dumb I am.
Sweet rifle beans I like that. I just finished my first build a few days ago. Ill throw some pics up. I’m only missing an optic aswell, you might want to check some scopes as well as red dots such as: Crossfire II 1-4x24 for about 200 bucks. There is also this from primary arms: Primary Arms Classic Series 1-4x24mm SFP Rifle Scope - Illuminated Duplex Dot Which I have on another rifle super cheap and works fine.
Here’s another one to consider:
The Vortex scopes are generally good and they have a no questions asked warranty. If you have any problems with it whatsoever, call them and they will take care of it.
I have SWFA’s on all my rifles and am happy with them. I’m also a bit of an optic snob, but not that much compared to a couple guys I know w/ $3k+ Schmidt and Benders and Kahles. If you’re using hold-overs which you probably will be and not dialing, there’s a lot of good value options on the market.

I really like my EOTECH 517 (I hear the 512’s have gotten a lot of the kinks ironed out so that would be a slightly cheaper option) on my shotgun.

Anyone interested in older guns? I’ve read a little bit about them online, but am pretty ignorant. I’m believing Pre-WW I stuff is really expensive, but after that you may be able to pick up some historically cool stuff that would be affordable enough that you could still use them for hunting or shooting.
I’ve always wanted a Mosin-Nagant. I should just buy one. They are still under $200 and I have heard nothing but good things about that rifle. Rich in history too. An M1 Garand is also up there, but they are more expensive.

Nice work you old curmudgeon!
Did you smell your gun after you shot it? Damn I love that smell!!! What was your total investment in the gun?

Enfields are pretty nice project guns.
Yeah but the cheap .303 has dried up in recent years.

Anyone carry a ruger LCP 9s in their pocket? If so how do you like carrying that pea shooter?
I have not carried that particular firearm, but my M&P Shield is of similar weight and dimensions and this shooter considers it much too large and bulky for pocket carry. I think it would be okay for coat/jacket pocket carry. If you want to see what it is like carrying in a pants pocket, just put three rolls of quarters in your pocket and carry those around all day and you’ll have an idea.
IWB, it carries like a dream. I think pistols in that approximate form factor really hit a sweet spot of size and weight for IWB concealment and everyday carry. Small and light enough to carry all day without dressing around your gun, large and heavy enough to shoot relatively well.
I don’t think you can go wrong with any Ruger product. If you are interested in pocket carry, I would check out the LCP. I really like that little .380 and would consider that a true pocket gun (with the right pocket holster).

haha, thanks. Impossible not to smell it lol, the gas blasts back into the receiver and some gets into your nose. When I was (trying to) zero it it was pretty bad, keeping cheek weld and trying to think about all the aspects of shooting that I suck at. Front site post, cheek weld, breathing, follow through, ugh…
Anyway it was a touch under a grand, and way more than I wanted to spend, but I couldn’t pass up the deal I got from BCM, and went full on “cool kid” with all the Magpul swag.
