Speaking of .243’s and 6mm’s and the like, here’s my 6.5 mounted in .300 Weatherby brass. I shoot them with a Winchester Mod 70 with a free floated, 28" barrel.
That’s a Speer nylon tipped 140 gr boatail that moves along at almost 3500 fps out of the barrel.

Did you float the barrel yourself? If so, how hard/easy was it. Did you have any glass bedding done?

Whoa! That’s awesome. I’ve seen some rarer chamberings and this is another first.
I can’t imagine anyone not seeing this coming.
Only thing preventing me is $$$.
I want the S&W, M&P AR10, badly. But I got to much other shit going on and no legit place to shoot long range targets. They’ll get my money eventually.
You going to keep it outfitted with the slug barrel or the smooth barrel when not in use?
Smooth barrel I think…I need to get another choke for it as it only came with a full choke…took Sen the IV out skeetshooting today and poor kid couldn’t hit anything.

Rockscar- I showed this to my brother and he’s incredibly jealous. Nice setup
If it’s any consolation, Reloading is Incredibly boring.
It looks boring to me haha. However, he makes jewelry and is used to that sort of tedious work. I’m not complaining though, as I’ll get to shoot the reloads.

If he has trouble even with a modified or improved choke, you may want to test him for ocular dominance again if you haven’t done so already. I’m right handed and weakly left eye dominant. Shotgunning sports are very difficult for me; my eye dominance switches as I fatigue and if my eyes go to the barrel rather than the clay I can’t hit shit. I compensate with a handgun by turning my head to the right so my left eye is lined up with the sights. I’ve also canted the gun about 30 degrees to the left like an OG.
Now, I put a piece of opaque tape over the left lens of my shooting glasses when I’m using my shotgun and over the right lens when I’m using my handgun. My rifle is a break-action, so I can shoot from either side depending on how my eyes are that day, lol.
