I want one of these… I’m going to start stuffing my extra $ into the dirty sock now for next summer.
Just gotta get it MA complaint.

Up here in Canada we can acquire these bad boys…Price has gone up in recent years, but I just picked this up in a FTF transaction last weekend for $425. I’m going to upgrade the op rod spring guide soon. Anyone familiar with these rifles? I should add it’s a Norinco M305 and not a Springfield.

You looking to get it in 7.62x39, or one of the NATO calibers? Because if you want the Russian round, SIG has the 556R, which is one of the best Kalashnikov-like rifles made: extremely rugged, accurate, and not very expensive. And it’s available now.
EDIT: also, from the link, “ATF’s requirements for a sem-auto receiver that cannot be converted to full auto” is laughable. ATF are fooling themselves if they think that such a receiver can be made. ANY semi-automatic weapon can be converted to automatic fire. Whether it can be easily converted to select fire is another matter.

The Norinco and the Polycorp M14 clones have decent receivers (maybe even superior: they are forged steel, dimensionally identical to USGI receivers, whereas the Springfield Armory receivers are cast), but that’s about it.
I would STRONGLY suggest swapping out ALL of the crummy cast steel parts with genuine USGI parts, if they are available in Canada, or if your laws do not prohibit you to import them from the United States.

I’m not too proud to admit I want the linked rifle because I find it sexy as hell.
As for select fire conversion. I’ve seen the sears and hammers needed to make any old AR (assuming the bolt carrier is appropriate) select fire, and I assume any machinist worth their salt could do it in a day or less. But who wants to catch a felony for it? Not I, nor am I a machinist, so I couldn’t do it, but it sure looks simple.

Thanks for the info, I planned on doing that eventually too…don’t know why my pic didn’t post, I will take some more when I get a chance to do a detailed strip soon.

I’ve had a lot of time to think about it, and I’ve decided that when and if I have the money, and when and if I am in a jurisdiction that would allow the purchase of such a thing (no way of legally obtaining it in Japan, although they are in fact available if I had the inclination to knock over a JSDF armory), the SCAR-17 is the way to go. In its native configuration, it is 7.62x51 NATO, my favorite cartridge, but is also easily convertible with a convenient conversion kit to 5.56 NATO, which seems to be everyone else’s favorite cartridge. best of all worlds, and as it is currently being used by not only our military, but that of many NATO countries, there should be no shortage of parts. The only drawbacks are the expense, and the fact that you can’t (currently, without modifications) use PMAGs with it, but these are not insurmountable problems.
Sig P938, NY compliant, 9mm
I picked this one because it is small and pretty. It is single action only, so I carry it “cocked and locked,” like my man (although he is not single action only). Very accurate b/c single action. Exceedingly concealable.

Finally approved for a carry permit in NYC. The other doctors are mighty impressed. Already shot 200 rounds.

I had one of those. I really liked it. I did have some problems with it. First a rivet pin or soemthing broke causing all sorts of malfunctions and I sent it to Sig and they fixed it. Later I took it down to clean and the firing pin spring was broke in half. It still shot fine but I did the pen test and it was a much lighter primer strike. After that I ditched it for a S&W shield.

Here she is again, gents, my ParaRuger 14.45 Commander. Finally got her in my ever-loving hands.
Please note the extended mag. Yes, it is a 16 round’er. Since I carry Stage 1 (cocked and locked) I now have a handgun with 17 immediately available rounds of .45 ACP. I will carry both additional 14 round mags, so 45 rounds total on my person.
Shoots great but had to add a buffer to recoil spring to make it cycle properly. Don’t know if that sped things up or slowed them down just enough for proper feeding. Your thoughts?
Only shot at metal gong so far. Will get out some paper targets and see how she groups.[/quote]
Awesome. Now go buy a threaded barrel . . .

Civilian available flamethrower. Legal in MA, Beans.

Only Maryland restricts. $899. . . .
Frustration rounds. I’ve also fallen out of love with the fiber optic sights. I’m really starting to hate them.
