Gun Love II

Went to the gun store today at lunch to buy some shotgun ammo for a sporting clay shoot Sunday and walked out with this bad boy.

Threaded barrel for a suppressor. A .45 is my favorite pistol to use with a suppressor, since the round is already sub-sonic, but the bullet still packs a punch. Basically silent.

Goes nicely with my Thompson SMG (also .45).
Very cool.

Hopefully lead!

SO this happened Friday.

5 shots, 100 yards, bets group of my life. Each square is an inch.

Really starting to see some good results from my reloads, and getting into the groove as far as trigger control, staying in the rifle, breathing, sight picture, etc.

I average about MOA with a 3 shot group and 1.2-1.3 MOA with a 5 shot group. I’m still at about a 10% flier rate out of 50 shots (as in if I discounted 5 or 6 shots out of 50 my average MOA would drop a lot, lol.)

Next step is qualify at 200 yard range, then I’m back to 3 shot groups until it’s time to qualify at 600 yards… (Need 2.5 MOA to qualify at 200 yards.)

I plan/planned on putting a Trijicon RMR on it (already have suppressor), but it looks like the only mounting options are on the rear dovetail, which would be a bit high, unless I have a serious amount of gun smithing done.

Kind of disappointed.

I like that! Tight groups are like tight pussies – they feel really good.

I have a target I’ve kept for over 20 years that shows a 3 shot group of 3/8" at 100 yards with my 338/378W, signed by a “witness,” my shooting buddy.
Yeah, I’ll likely have this target buried in my casket, lmao. I’ve been floating on air all weekend. Should have seen me at the range. The other dude thought I was crazy until I showed him. He agreed it was worth the very audible “fuck yes” after the fifth shot.

Just finished up my glock 30s. Added the same ameriglo caps that are on my 19

Anyone know how to remove the rear dovetail on a HK? It looks like I should be able to take a punch to it and knock it out sideways, but just as soon as I do that I will discover a screw hidden on the inside and will have destroyed my slide.

(I need to remove the dovetail to install the adapter for the Trijicon.)

I do not own an HK, but pg22 of the manual says both front and rear sights can be drifted out with a brass punch or you can purchase a sight pusher. No mention in the manual or on several boards of any hidden screws, etc.

Very nicely done! Congrats, that’s about as well as you can hope to do right there

That you very much. Looks like the pusher that works is $600. Given my armory, I suppose I should buy it, but I’m probably going to go to Alamogordo Lowes and buy a large brass punch and stick my pistol in a vice with a piece of leather around it.

Shot the 30s today. Very happy with it. Here are the first shots. 1 inch group at 10 Yds and 2 inch group at 15 for a carry gun? Yeah I’ll take that any day.

I’ve got 2 pieces of 1/2 inch plyboard covered with thick leather that fit between the jaws of my vice. They’ve never marred anything. When all I had was leather a few pieces of leather some maple I was working did get marred a little. With the plywood you can clamp down as hard as you need to. Your pistol would probably be fine without the wood.

Oh… Yeah… Added a lonewolf ported barrel. This should be fun

Qualified at the 200 yard range yesterday.

Was a shit group, my come-ups were quite short. I was nervous coupled with the walking/jogging I did (about 800+ yards) had my heart rate up more than I would prefer.

Best part is, I had a 6" target, and needed a 5 inch group to qualify. My first shot didn’t hit the target, so I figured I was fucked and relaxed quite a bit. Ended up with just about a 5" group, center of it probably 4-5" low from point of aim.

Need to work on my come-ups and process more brass, lol.

A little late, but I did a 4 day advanced handgun course a few weeks ago. Another great learning experience. 9-5 4 days, then came back 7-10:30 or so two days for low light. Loaded 3k rounds for it but shot about 1200-1400. Brand new Gen 3 Glock 19 with some night sights put on the night before. It ran without a hitch.

Basic shooting warmup, review of room clearing in the live-fire houses, then same thing working stair wells and 3D angles, then some more advanced shoot and move w/ muzzle control drills.

Next days were the same, more practice in the live fire houses and some force on force simulation work with airsoft guns (the M&P airsoft guns are great btw), then the same in the dark with flashlight technique.

One of the scenarios was a home invasion where you come home and you find your door open and you hear badguys in the process of violently assaulting your wife/girlfriend and you have to go in and get her out. A SWAT trainer was running it, and doing a great job, simulating the voices of the bad guys and setting the scenario. Adrenaline went way up and ability to think went way down.

For class fees, hotel, food, ammo it’s not cheap, but if you have the opportunity to do some more advanced force on force or simunitions training from a reputable school or instructor, it’s worth it.

Hopefully you don’t take this as an insult. Have you tried to adjust your finger placement a little more over the trigger? Slightly to the left? The clusters are good but, almost all were left of center you could maybe tweek it a little and be dead center?

Okay, I think this gun is sheer genius. The Bug A-salt. You can kill flies and shit with a gun! It’s just cool. I mean, you can shotgun shoot a fly without damaging things or poisoning your pets and children. I am sure it could put an eye out if your not careful.
I am definately getting one. I gotta try it. I really, really really hate flies and I like to shoot.
Imagine what it could do to a slug??
