The dems can’t compete on the issues - as they have no message. So they resort to this sort of thing.

I am in no way condoning this type of activity. I think that is the big difference between the dems and the republicans. The left would have circled the wagons and started a campaign to impeach the character of the accuser, and the right is calling for an investigation.

But the bottom line for anyone that can see the light is - election season shennanigans.

Expect more “bombs” to be dropped from the left as November gets closer.

I’m not defending Folley–he’s obviously a sicko–but do we know if he’s even done anything illegal? Isn’t the age of consent in D.C. 16? As in the 1983 sex scandel, he may have violated House ethical rules, but that doesn’t mean he broke any law.

The other day I heard that as far back as '95 it was known among the Congressional pages that Folley had a thing for young boys–they referred to him as FFF: Fag Folley from Florida. Given that, I imagine most in Congress have known about this for some time.

It’s not speculation. It’s a fact. Whoever originally possessed the IMs had to be a party to “keeping them secret”, if indeed that ever happened. Those are the parties you are accusing: the kids and the parents.

As for election time shennanigans, apparently it was shennanigans all the time for Mr. Foley.

Because there was already an FBI investigation, and the FBI sat on the emails. So it was the media’s turn. Not to mention the difficulty of dealing anonymously with the FBI. Ever tried it?

Foley was co-chairman of a child protection committee in Congress. He helped write legislation making it illegal to even atttempt to entice a minor into having sex. So Foley may go to prison on a law he helped write, we’ll see.

The guy who broke this story at ABC, Brian Ross, said his sources were Republican, but declined to go any further to protect his sources.

I think the whole situation stinks, but it’s nice to see the Holier Than Thou, We Are The Morally Superior Family Values Party take a well-deserved vicious kick in their hypocritical nuts. Hastert and House leaders concealed a pedophile, in an attempt to hold onto a seat in Congress. Who knows, maybe Hastert will have to go to prison too. Hastert never had any integrity, he ducked the Vietnam draft because of a phony knee injury, then he went on to wrestle at the college level. Maybe his knee got better though.

Foley was a good fundraiser for the GOP, isn’t that a type of hush money?

Foley was elected as part of the so-called Newt Gingrich revolution in 1994, when the Democrats lost their majority in Congress. Now pages are coming forward and saying that as early as 1995, they were being warned by supervisors to watch out for Foley, be careful of Foley. Only the Republican pages were warned to watch out though, not the Democratic pages. That’s really considerate.

What were the pages being warned to watch out for? Overly friendly emails?

Republican leadership concealed him, in order to maintain their power. They would rather expose hundreds of minors to a pedophile, than give up a single Congressional seat.

You’re saying it’s not speculation. Yet, you’re claiming that noone but the parents had the information. I have seen nothing that states that any parents handed over the IM’s directly to the media.

And again, why would the parents not take the IM’s to the FBI if they’re goal was to expose Foley? Why do it in a way that brings a media circus down upon children and their parents? That’s what’s not making sense to me. Wouldn’t the FBI have been obligated to protect the kid’s identity? Again, why the media?

You do support the investigations looking into these issues, right? Who had this kid’s private communications? Did they have it lawfully? Did they cross his right to privacy by plastering a kid’s name all over the media? Was someone negligent in turning over evidence to a possible crime? If so, what was their motive?

You’re arguement actually supports what I’m saying. The FBI had the emails. They found nothing in the emails that rose to the level of an actual criminal activity. Why the hell weren’t the IM’s turned over to the FBI when they became available?

The IM’s show Foley trying to sexually arouse and seduce the kid. He was caught red handed by the IM’s. There is no “I was just wanting to get the know the kid and become his mentor” type excuse with those. Yet, whoever had them, and turned them over, chose to do so through the media.

I originally posted this list in April - unlike Hastert and others, I wasn’t privy to Foley’s involvement at that time. BTW, I did just add him a few days ago, that’s why this post came back to the top.

Was there a law broken? What is the age of consent relevant to this specific instance? Yes, I think the man is a scumbag. But, with the couple of articles I’ve read, I haven’t seen if there’s something he could be charged with. Is there a real criminal issue here? Or, an ethical issue? I’m not clear on that.
