Conventional pulling went surprisingly well… 535x1 and it wasn’t that hard…

I’m going to try those haulings. Sounds like just what I need.

fri 5/27

warm up: LAX ball work, several sets of shrugs at 225, muscle snatch

mil press
95x10, 115,135x5, 155x3,3,5, 115x10
pullup
BWx10, 45,70x5, 90,115x3, 135x.5, 45 + mini x5, 45x10

arm stuff

no stretch

No cleaning again due to hand. Mil pressing was better than last time… I think the shrugs helped as well as the LAX ball work. Pullups were ok. Adding the mini band was good and I’ll do that some more.
No stretching because it feels like my arm is getting electrocuted if I move the wrong way. Hope that doesn’t cause problems.

Pull-ups against bands are the best!

Been a while since I dropped in man, but Ive been following. Even through your troubles and pains you’re still killing it! Keep it up man

Ya hopefully it helps (I think it will).

Thanks! Stupid pains… such is life though.

tues 5/31

warm up: back raise, steep decline situps, SLDL @135

conv dl - belt at 455
225,315x3, 405,455x1, (reverse AVG) 455,495x3, 545x2, 495x4

front squat to pins - hold units are number of breaths
135,185,225x5, 275x4, holds: 315x15,20,20

SLDL/step ups
4x10

stretch

Slightly different starting technique today and I think it is better than rolling. Only used it to 315 because there are still stitches in my right hand but hopefully it continues to work once everything is healed up. Back rounding at 545 but sets at 495 were good. Tried a set of misery pulls at 135 just to see what it was like. I’ll try them for real on Friday. Pin front squats are murder on the abs and mid back.

wed 6/1

warm up: LAX ball work, shrugs

bench w/LT PMS
135x20, 185x10, 225,275,285,295x5, (band off) 205x7+4
NG cable row
superset

shrug
1x20, 2x10
pushup
1x15, (LT band) 2x10

stretch, more LAX ball work

Pretty smooth benching today. May have tweaked something on the posterior side of the AC joint but it’s minor. Continuing to make progress in the fight against shoulder pain. 205 should have been 10 easy but I mis-wrapped the wrists and it kept wanting to dump forward… took the wraps off and got another 4 no problem.

Went a little early and there were a lot of kids there. One asked me what the band was for… gave the standard answers: forces you to stay tight, good groove, the only way I can bench heavy at the moment, etc. Then he said “oh because it looks good right?” No dipshit. That’s not even a consideration. I don’t give a fuck what you or anyone thinks of my training. I don’t do certain lifts because I’m trying to impress people, I do them to hopefully keep progressing. Kind of blew my mind and I wish I had the words to fully describe the nuances of my feelings regarding that sort of attitude.

haha you know, you’re rants are starting to seem kinda familiar. hope the shoulder pain gets better, keep up the stretching and rehab stuff, i’m just finding out how much of a difference it makes, on wed my hip felt the best it’s felt in like 2 years.

Haha well usually it’s just a small group of hard-training guys at the usual time so there’s not really much to complain about. Guess you get some of the high school crowd around 3 or so. Something about high school and undergrad guys in the gym just rubs me the wrong way.

Rehab isn’t a whole lot of fun but it is wicked important.

fri 6/3

warm up: back raise, steep decline situps, SLDL

SSB squat - normal box height + 1 plate.
155,245,335x5, (belt) 385x2, (wraps) 385x2, 425x1, (rev AVG) 475,515x1

haulings
135,225,315x10

machine hack squat/ab wheel
4 sets

stretch

Fighting off a head cold so a little lacking in energy today. Took a big crank of ammonia right before 515 and it felt awesome… woke me right the fuck up haha. Maybe not a coincidence that it flew up. Haulings were pretty sweet, hit low back a glutes. Tried some hack squats to breathe some life into my shrinking quads. Might try higher reps for a week to recharge a little.

Glad you enjoyed the haulings. They do cook the back pretty well.

Did the ab wheel, too. It was jakerz inspired acc work haha

mon 6/6

warm up: LAX ball work, clean, press, muscle snatch

clean and mil press
95,115,135,155x5, 175x1+3 push press, 135x10
pullup
BW,45x5, (add doubled mini) 45x5, 70x4,3, (straight weight) 70x10

shrug/lateral raise
4x10

arm stuff

stretch

Good training today. For some reason I feel more stable when cleaning the weight from the floor first so I think I’ll stick with that (as opposed to out of the rack). Superglued my finger together and it held up like a champ haha. After the band pullups, straight weight at 70 felt like it was 45. Good stuff.

Hi I just wanted to say thanks for the subscription =D

Training looks awesome, are you holding the front squat holds in the bottom position?

Haha no prob. I wanted to show a little support but bypass the T NATION drama.

No, holding at the top. Holding at the bottom sounds totally miserable but now that you mention it, it does sound worthwhile.

wed 6/8

warm up: back raise, steep decline situp + hip extension, SLDL 135x2x10

conv dl - belt at 405
225,315x5, 405x2, 455x1, (Rev AVG) 455,495,545x1, 585x0 (got to knees but back was too rounded)

squat
135,225x10, 315x7, 405x5

leg curl/extension
3x10

stretch

Deads felt really good today. Probably could have pulled 575 but wanted to see if I could do 585. Answer is no, not yet. Also wanted to see what I could do with 405 on the squat… probably could have managed another rep or two if my erectors hadn’t just been fried by the dead failures. Next reverse band squat day I think I will try straight or SSB free squats. Squat-to-box technique carried over a little bit as far as a more cautious descent, but I still rebound out of the hole (and prolly a little deeper than necessary as well). We’ll see what happens.

RB 545:

Squat 405x5:

Damn, I was supposed to do the holds and forgot.
Holding at the bottom just sounds evil lol
I was looking forward to it though.

Hot damn, your squats are awesome.
You’re a low bar squatter? Paint me jelly.

Yeah I dig the bar in just underneath the bony top edge of the scapula. It’s actually pretty comfortable there. Gotta chalk up the back though otherwise there is some slippage.
