I hear you buddy. Things are pretty busy here as well. Glad things are calming down some for you and looking forward to following along on the next cycle. ![]()
Yeah I noticed in your journal you’ve been busy too. ![]()
For me, working with broadcast video equipment, College Football, NFL, and MLB make this a busy time for sure. It’s hard to relax when watching a game LOL…I’m always looking for video glitches.
I think this next cycle will push me so I’m ready to buckle my seat belt and dive in.
Man, I had no idea that’s what you did for a living. Cool!
No worries Greg. Being busy is part of life. Glad you are still training.
Welcome back! ![]()

After a second foot surgery on 12/29 last year and a SLAP torn labrum (2 tears) shoulder surgery on 2/10, I’m finally able to get back to lifting again.
I got the go ahead from my surgeon last week. Actually what he told me was he was “going to let the horse out of the barn, but not to let it run crazy.” LOL.
The good news is he said my repaired shoulder is good to go now, and as long as I build up slowly over the next 2-3 months I should be stronger than ever by the end of that period. We’ll see. I really don’t intend to push it too hard for a while…if ever. I’m torn (no pun intended) about whether just to focus more on lighter weight body-building or trying to return to power lifting at some point. I guess I’ll kind of play that by ear as I go.
Welcome back. Good to see you being able to lift again. Your benching has always been impressive to me but I know you wanted to hit that 405 bench.
Good luck, hope you heal up quickly.
Welcome back Greg! Sounds like the surgeries have been successful and you are back in the saddle. Hope you stay on the mend. Good looking session today!
Thanks Shane!
It’s damn good to be back. I’m not sure I’ll ever wind up hitting the 405. I’m OK with it if I don’t. I’m planning to just keep making steady progress and see where I wind up.
Thanks Trent! I’m happy to be back. The shoulder’s feeling pretty good…still a little sore at times but I have 90+% of the mobility back so that’s good. My foot is feeling pretty good too. I’m planning to keep lifting regularly and try to start getting some trail runs in again. It’s been too long since I’ve been on the trails out here and I’ve got to fix that. ![]()

I’m behind by a day. This was a new workout I’m trying based on 6x6 which I’ve been playing with for years.
Nice rehab session Greg. Looks like you got out on the trail this weekend too (saw on IG). Looks like it was a great hike and run. Very happy for you man. That had to feel good to get back out there.
Thanks Trent. Yeah the rehab work is going well and I feel my strength and mobility improving all the time.
I had a lot of fun hiking with Waylon and then going for that short run on Sunday. That’s the first run I’ve had in several years where I didn’t have any foot pain…it was great and I look forward to getting more of those in.

This morning I completed a Workout as follows:
Shoulder Rehab work with Red Bands
Tri-set:
Decline Football Bar Angle Grip Bench Press 5-35, 5-45, 5-55, 6x6 @ 65 lbs.
Band Facepulls 9 sets of 10 with Purple Bands
Straight Arm Pulldowns 6x6 @ 30 lbs.
DB Hammer Curls 6x6 @ 25 lbs.
Superset with:
Back Raises 3 sets of 10
Bodyweight: ???
Workout Duration: 0:28:47.01 h:mm:ss.ms
These rehab workouts are feeling good. The weights are still low but I’m really concentrating on form and feeling the exercise. My let shoulder still gets pretty sore after the workouts so I don’t want to push it too hard yet.
I’m doing a linear progression on bench where I increase 5 pounds each session on my 6x6 sets. I’m benching 3x per week so in 12 weeks I should be up in the 225 range. Depending upon how I feel then I’ll probably keep sticking with the 5 pound per workout progression until I stall.
I’m coming up with new programs to implement at various times…doing research on myself with the goal of offering some programming for sale on my website at some point…that’s the dream at least LOL.
I figure I need to start making use of my Personal Training cert at some point.
Did you have shoulder surgery or replacement surgery
Nice couple workouts Greg. That hike you took last weekend looked awesome!
I had shoulder surgery to repair 2 tears (upper and lower) in the Labrum in my left shoulder. The surgery was on 2/10, so I’m just now getting back into lifting.
Thanks Shane. It was a lot of fun. I’m glad we went last weekend because the pass got some snow on Monday and are supposed to be getting more tomorrow, so the roads up there will be messy.
Did you play a sport or do you think it was from weightlifting
Nice job on that session Greg. 5 pounds per session sounds like a good plan to slowly increase the weight. Hopefully your shoulder responds well to that.
I had 2 tears. I think the first one was from football when I was younger. The 2nd one happened a couple of years ago when I was bench pressing. I think the 1st one destabilized things enough that the bench put extra stress and caused the 2nd tear.
