At the moment I live in a tiny fucking town with no chance of getting a Whole Foods or similar type of grocery. This means that I have to go out of town to get grass fed beef which is not a problem because I leave town every chance I get.
The Whole Foods I go to is about an hour away from me so I just buy a few pounds and bring it back with me which leads me to my question.
How long can this stuff sit in my fridge before it goes bad? The stuff I buy is $6/lb and I would rather not end up buying a bunch of it and not being able to use it, however, I also don’t like the idea of cooking it all at once because I like to do a variety of things with it while cooking it. It’s not prepackaged so there is no “best by” date on it.

x2. It really is just that simple.
I also would suggest that you find a group that buys grass fed meat directly from farmers. You will end up saving a whole lot of money…
maybe as much as 50 percent.

I can’t tell the difference if I thaw it slowly. You however have to plan in advance. I try to stick the meat in the frige about 24 hours before I plan on using it.

Vacuum Sealing also helps a ton, it will really reduce freezer burn on meat, which is the major thing for me when it comes to frozen meat. Even those new ziplock vacuum bags work well if you can’t go out and buy an appropriate vacuum sealer.
