How do you pronounce LOL?
IS it El oh el or do you say “Loll” like it rhymes with ball?

I pronounce it as ‘loll’, as in - to loll around the streets aimlessly. But again I’ve only ever said it half-jokingly when playing CSS or Wow or something, generally being facetious or sarcastic. ;p
I’ve never said rofl, however, it does kinda roll off the tongue easily. Not easily enough to replace genuine laughter of course, but I’m now also curious as to how far it goes. My interest is piqued Roy. =)
Shamefully I’m far too old to be saying lol and should know better. =(

There’s also ‘OMG’ as a an expression of surprise. I’ve never personally heard that but it pops up quite regularly on TV and not always used ironically, so it has a foothold in popular culture.
I think LOL has the most chance of transitioning from an acronym into a word all of its own. As Nards pointed out with the two ways of pronouncing it, it lends itself to being treated as an actual word. Mutation of language in action.
Well, I still say “What the fuck?!” all the time. I’l die before i go to “Double U Tee Eff?!”
Well, technically ‘wtf’ and ‘omg’ are somewhat different in that they existed pre-internet as popular sayings. I can distinctly remember the whole annoying California valley girl - ‘like, Oh My GOD, that’s soooooooo bitchin!’ and men have been saying ‘what the fuck…’ since, well, virginal births.
Lol, Rofl, Afk and all the other derivatives have been borne specifically on the net so I can’t see too many of them crossing back over with any great degree. Lol being a likely exception however.
Then again we do have ‘noob’!

LOL!!
Can we at least use past participles? I don’t care about the rest. But the next person who says “I have went” is going to be following it up with “I have got stabbed in the face.”
I must admit that I have used “epic fail” in conversation a couple of times, but never Lol or wtf.
