I am a bit confused. I am 22 and I have always thought I have had a low testosterone level.
I have very little to no body and facial hair
I am constantly tired and find it often difficult to focus
While I always can get an erection, often during sex, I lose it
I have a feminine body built - VERY wide hips, VERY narrow shoulders, long fingers, fat concertation around waist + gynecomastia
It’s difficult for me to gain muscles
Can go a few days without sex
I am very down, moody and grumpy
I was even thinking Klinefelter as all the symptoms match (the only thing is I don’t have a small testicles/penis.
I went to the doctor, he was quite understanding and said we had to do a blood test. Just got the results and I am baffled. Everything is in range and normal. It’s not the “terrible GP”, just simply the blood tests. Furthermore, before the blood test, I was trying to artificially lower my results by not sleeping, drinking alcohol, taking some medicines. Is there anything I am missing? Have you got any advice on what can I do next?
Missing some tests, DHT, IGF-1, Free T, Free T3, Free T4, Reverse T3. When a doctor cuts corners stuff goes undiagnosed. Thyroid is looking suspect, europe counties chase lab TSH ranges to determine thyroid illness, Free T3 is the only active thyroid hormone. You need Free T3, Free T4, Reverse T3 and antibodies tested. You may have to pay for it though, expect to fight doctors on this.
I recently had a thyroid panel done and it showed perfect TSH, Free T3 and Free T4, but Reverse T3 was high which can block Free T3 at the receptors negating perfect Free T3 levels. It seems like almost no doctors in your country are aware and only test TSH which really isn’t a thyroid hormone.
Your GP checked LH stimulation and total testosterone, then checked TSH stimulation and didn’t check thyroid hormones.
Are you taking any medications before these problems?
GP’s shouldn’t be diagnosing hormone deficiencies, it’s not their area of expertise.
He tested his total T and SHBG. Its safe to say his free test is more than fine with those two numbers shared. I would test E2 and get more thyroid work done as others have said.
Thank you, guys, really appreciate it. Yes, I do not have a free testosterone result. Or even an albumin result to be able to calculate the free t, sadly.
