Got Pulled Over

Not talking to law enforcement is loosely considered “guilty” it opens up their choice to pursue making your night and criminal record potentially messed up…just my experience in term of seeing friends get hosed…

btw if you’re drinking and driving and you get pulled over… Never blow. You’ll lose your license only until you pay a lawyer to get it reinstated but its the only way of pleading to a lesser charge or fighting the case. If you blow you’re fucked and the DA won’t want to plea.

Ask your lawyer friends.

Also if you do have drugs in the car don’t consent to a search. If I had drugs in the car I would have taken the bench warrant arrest over a drug arrest.

If cops come knocking about a criminal investigation…you can still cooperate with an investigation with a lawyer present.

This is good advice…I liked this video.

The first part of the video, where the lawyer speaks about why one should not speak with cops is pretty informative and interesting too.

Seriously, don’t answer questions beyond what is on your drivers license as the police can ask for that. DON’T give permission for a search. It is better to get harassed, possibly spend the night in jail, than to inadvertently say something that could get you in trouble, up to and including spending YEARS in jail.
Or just don’t break the law/do anything that can land you in jail. I’ll answer any questions they ask. They can search my car. You know why? Because I have nothing to hide. I’ll answer everything honestly because I’ve done nothing wrong and they wont find shit in my car. If you keep your nose clean, you don’t have anything to worry about. If, not…well sucks for you.

Sort of off topic…

Anyone here have or use one of those at home Breathalyzers? A buddy of mine bought one and it was a hit at parties… and by hit I mean everyone was trying to blow the highest number and everyone ended up shit housed.

But in the directions it said that you had to wait 5 minutes after consuming your last drink before you could attempt a reading otherwise it would register too high due to alcohol still in your mouth/saliva or whatever. I know police breathalyzers are more high tech but the same thing probably applies right? Thats why if I ever am out even at dinner and having one beer I make sure to have my drink finished well before I leave and have at least one glass of water before I leave just in case.

Kind of I guess just a rant.

You were making a lot of sense up until your last couple of post’s, people can and do get falsely accused and convicted.

Actually I haven’t been pulled over since last May. Coincidentally that is around when I got my radar scanner.

But I was a stupid driver when I first got my license.

DixiesFinest: I have no idea what you just wrote but we can just leave it at that because no one cares

Cool story bro. I was agreeing with you that it was a messed up situation.
Sorry Dixie. It was a long day yesterday so I just assumed negatively.

Are you kidding me? You’ve never broken a law in your life? You wouldn’t be pissed off if a cop had you on the side of the road for nearly an hour wasting your time?

I don’t necesarily agree with that above statement…that one night in jail is on your record…whether you are charged or not, if you go into a public service career, it really doesn’t look good, especially if there is a lot of people who are waiting behind you, they won’t want to find the truth and they will move down the line to the next person…

One piece of advices, don’t get yourself into a spot where you can be accused of something, don’t have anything illegal in your car, loaded guns, drugs, containers of alcohol in reach…knives within reach…etc… :)
Wait a minute…It’s illegal to have knives within reach? I have one tucked between my passenger seat and the console. In florida at least, I thought you could have one in the car legally?

No sarcasm here, sophomore year I did the exact same thing. I won with a .24

It’s a game. Cops play a game. If you are hiding anything and seem pretty cool about it, they try to befriend you in hopes of you spitting out that you’re wasted or high, or have gotten high in the past week etc. That’s all they need to put you in the back of a squad car and have a bunky for the night. Ever heard of these?:

“It’s ok man, I’ve tried weed when I was younger, it’s no big deal.”

“Even if you had one beer, it’s cool man, just tell me”

“Got anything in the car I should know about?”

“Where you guys headed?” (In hopes you say coming from the bar, a party etc.)

Play the game. Even if you’re guilty, tell em to search the car, you have nothing to hide. Guaranteed they won’t unless they think you’re high already. But if they ask you to search the car, you’re fucked.
Yeah he said a bunch of shit like this. I don’t like cops so it surprised me when questions like these tempted me to admit something. The worst one was when he said that since he’s pretty liberal about drugs because he works right next to a college campus.

I will say that he was a state trooper and I’ve never got this bullshit from regular cops.

“But officer I didn’t inhale” haha

Funny, I’ve had better experiences with Troopers than local law enforcement.

But then again, I’m talking about routine traffic stops here.

You were profiled. Having a radar detector (assuming that’s the windshield thing) and having 5 percent on your car windows attracts cops. When I was younger, I had my windows tinted because I thought it looked cool. But I found out later that it basically attracts cops like a broken tail light.

There was some good advice by another poster. Don’t let the police get you talking. Answer questions with yes/no, and “I was driving the speed limit”. Beyond that, one word answers will do. You should make a life-long professional relationship with an attorney and have him/her on speed dial. You’ll use them in the future for one reason or another and they’re expensive enough for you not to abuse it.

You would have been better off telling him you were being treated for ADD and your medication makes you a little shakey sometimes than saying you’re dehydrated. Most people don’t know their hydration status, and don’t people get dehydrated and dilated on extacy? And dehydration to the point of tremor is a pretty unlikely excuse.

The tint ticket is much more likely to “stick” than a speeding ticket. I have an attorney I use on all my speeding tickets. I’ve lightened my foot in the last 5 years, but it’s still cheaper than high insurance rates.

LOL! do you blow your lawyer to pay the bill?

Shit, how much does a ticket hit your insurance where the legal fees aren’t more than just paying teh ticket?

Nah, I can usually afford my attorney. But you should have seen the bill for my divorce.
Tickets are ~125 and the lawyer I use is ~250 contingent on getting the ticket dismissed. Since the tickets stay on your driving record, even 20 dollars a month in increased rates will cost more than using an attorney. Of course the most economical way is to simply not speed. This will keep your chin clean.

Oh, I have 2 lawyers I use personally, and a plethora of ones I deal with through work, and I’m thinking I get ass raped in fees at this point, lol.

We helped with a divorce last year, so the client could help keep the legal fees down. What a mess, and his fees were still just under 100k between us and the lawyer. Had teh lawyer done what we did, it would have been like 150k.

Divorce is expensive. Misery is free.

I agree with what you’re saying. But I know if I’m dehydrated based on how much water I’ve drank that day and the color of my pee. A trainer told me once that if you’re thirsty you’re already dehydrated.

He was grilling me though. He also said that my once daily (as needed, like for a test) 10 mg dose was odd.

He asked me if I abuse it, so I’ll be sure to not bring up any medication in the future. But I can’t imagine someone abusing adderrall, it just makes me overalert and irritable.

People abuse it all the time, taking it without prescription etc. Thats funny he actually asked you if you abuse it, as if you would respond “Yes officer, of course, the weight of your moral authority just makes me confess”

I fully admit I’ve broken the law. But I don’t anymore. I don’t even speed anymore. I don’t know if I’d be pissed or not, but I don’t really care. I’d rather sit there and have to wait while he searches my car and finds nothing than wait even longer as they bring a K-9 in. Did you know, if you don’t consent, they can stick you in the back of their car and call the K-9 in? Did you know if the dog acts at all like he smells something, that gives them probable cause to search your car? Not only do I not mess with anything illegal, nothing is in my car. Id rather consent to the search and spend half an hour than not consent and wait even longer.

Yes, they are, but that is rare, especially now a days. Plus, that video, the guys a defense attorney. You know he makes his money? Getting guilty people off. One of his examples of why you shouldn’t talk the the police was an athlete who knowingly took steroids illegal in her sport and then lied to the police about it…how about, instead of not talking to the police and getting caught in the lie, don’t take the damn steroids you know are illegal?
