Why is that so hard to wrap your head around? I know plenty of people, myself included, who fundementaly disagree with the current structure of taxation in the US. This is nothing new.

But he isn’t raising taxed to anyone but those who are already wealthy. I don’t know about you, but if I were making 250K a year, I would not be worried about where my next meal is coming from.

Those tax cuts we received recently didn’t do jack shit to prevent the current economic crisis.
Are people really this clueless? Taxes have nothing to do with the fucking free market except to take money out of circulation. Taxes are a black hole where money goes in and nothing comes out, that is why it is a bad thing. Taking money out of circulation is stupid, especially at a time when the flow has slowed significantly.

The current economic crisis was caused by a mountain of default swap leverage (60-70 trillion) being built on a molehill (2-3 trillion) of bad home loans. Taxes were irrelevant. 2-3 trillion in bad loans wasn’t enough to cause a global economic crisis, when the sum of global wealth amounts to roughly 60 trillion. What WAS capable of doing such a thing was all of the leverage created on bad loans.

If they are poor - they get money they never paid. Stop acting like poor people pay a fucking thing. They don’t. And they will be even more richly rewarded for it in the future.

Ahh the joys of bubble upe economics…Reward those who don’t do shit.

Get the fuck out of here.

I know plenty of people who don’t make much money who bust their ass day in day out. Working 10 hour days and 10 or 11 bucks an hour. You’re telling me those people don’t do shit? That they’re lazy bums?

A hard days work used to be rewarded in this country from what I hear, but no more. Unless you’re a college grad who’s pulling in at least 80k+ a year, you’re a lazy bum who “don’t do shit”.

Sick.

Well, if the bust their ass, like you say, they won’t be poor long. However, if they continue to say at that level an never advance they are either illegal or dumb as mule shit.
Bubble up economics may benefit some who work hard, but primarily it gives hand outs to people who don’t do a fucking thing. The good news is that they’ll spend it, because if they knew how to save, they wouldn’t be poor.
Look, moron, not everyone can advance. You want to live in this world where every single person advances through the ranks, and every single person owns a business, and every single person can be a millionaire. NOT POSSIBLE. There’s 250 million adults in this country, there can only be so many CEOs, business owners, and management.

This is what’s so wrong with this. The majority of people are never going to be rich, never going to be wealthy, and yet that’s who keeps getting the breaks in this country. It’s insanity.

His whole economic theory is bullshit anyway…The current system is law for two more years. He can’t do anything about that anyway. He has so little experience, that he likely will do nothing of what he said he would do when the time comes…Campaigning and sitting in the presidential seat are two different matters. I have yet to see any president act out his campaign promises.

What the fuck are you talking about? People used to work sun up to sun down and could barely feed themselves.

Why the hell do people think they all deserve to own ipods, cell phones, have HD Cable TV and drive fancy cars?

They had a hand in it also. When people are asking $400k for houses on the approach to Compton airport, you know something is wrong.

Lol. So I make 1.6 million dollars this year only to have Uncle Sam take away 800K USD? Well then…I quit. However expect an increase in white-collar fraud. Not sure how a pistol’s going to help though.

Utter bullshit.

If RICH people quit working just so they don’t have to pay taxes, that makes them WORSE than the poor people who simply can’t pay much in taxes because they don’t make much to begin with.

If people quit pursuing goals because they need to pay taxes, that is about as Un-American as you can get.

By the way, I already own a gun. My dad has several.
I have never stated that poor people pay significant taxes. They don’t. They also CAN’T AFFORD IT. I know people who are having trouble with rent. They aren’t exactly in the position to pay 1,000 bucks a month in income tax.

Significant? I’ll kiss your ass if they pay ANY income tax at all. I know. I was one of them.

12K in income tax? If they are paying that much in income tax - they are not poor, scooter.

I’ll join you. They do not pay a penny.

Both of you need to stop making up arguments. I have not written anywhere that poor people pay any significant taxes.
You went from “can’t pay much in taxes” to “pay any significant taxes”.

My argument has not changed. They pay no income tax whatsoever. None. Not “don’t pay much”. Not “pay no significant taxes”. They pay ZERO. And as a reward, they get money put in their pocket. Money that used to belong to me and everyone else who have busted their fucking asses to get to where they are.

Rewarding poverty is the problem.

I don’t like paying more in taxes than many people make. But I do it. It’s not a matter of whether I can afford it. Fuck - I can afford to get robbed at gunpoint - but I don’t want to. At least the motherfucker who had the balls to put a gin in my back did SOMETHING for the money.
Professor X wrote:
<<< Not one of you yet has explained why this is suddenly a brand new set if ideals that Obama has put forth. >>>
Because he promised it would be and his history tells us EXACTLY what he means by that. Taxes are for paying the countries unavoidable expenses not being charitable or coercing justice and fairness. The former is American, the latter is marxist.

Let’s be honest here.

The tax issue is one of principle. It’s the principle of the thing. You need not be rich to abhor a progressive tax.

The fact of the matter is, no matter who the winner happened to be, ‘the poor’ will still be poor or poorer, and the ‘the rich’ will still be rich or richer.

The middle class, regardless of rhetoric from either side will be squeezed.

No matter how hard you try, you can’t tax your way to prosperity.

He endorsed the Ill. handgun ban.

I love how taxing the rich is considered a ‘new concept’ in America. Apparently no one has heard of America 1950-1980?

One thing to note is that a large amount of small business owners are in this tax bracket. They are “rich” on paper, but re-invest a large portion of their income into their business, effectively making them significantly poorer than they are on paper when they file IRS paperwork. An increase on taxes will hurt these people significantly, and hurting small business is bad for the economy, because they do not have the resilience of large corporations. They will have to lay off people or go under.

The thinking went like this. “Hey, we know we’re making crap loans, but at least we sell them to someone else for 10 cents on the dollar and they, in turn, can sell them to the former third world for trillions!” Worked for awhile.

Actually, I suggest that.

Like what? Only wealthy landowners get to vote?

If you pay 5x in the amount of taxes that I pay you get 5 more votes than I do? Slippery-slope…

If you want something in this life you have to earn it.
