Got My Tattoo

For anyone who cares, finally got it today. I like it a lot; it was my first, and surprisingly to me, it didn;t really hurt bad at all =P

Sorry for the extremely crappy/fuzzy picture, by the way.

i like it, its somewhat like one of the ideas im thinkin on for my elbow… did you design that or is that some sort of symbol that means somethin that i dont know about

It’s an aegishjulmar- Old nordic symbol for protection, and the runes on the arms of it all mean differnet things- The aegishjulmar isnt mine, but I picked out the runes for the outside.

What does it mean?

so you DID go with your design… cool man, congrats!

Cool, I’m always happy to see people get tats that actually have some personal meaning, and are ones that I haven’t seen on 100 different fruitcakes wearing wifebeaters…

Also, just so ya know, it may not have hurt that bad based primarily on the location, and the fact that you didn’t have much “filling” to do.

Wait till you get a tat that goes right next to your nipple or across your spine, and then has a bunch of filling in to do in which they use a needle so big I’m pretty sure it was just a ballpoint pen being stabbed into me in rapid succession… fun times

Get a side panel tat on your rib cage that goes from your arm pit to your love handle ( yeah I’m trying to get rid of that). It hurt a little bit, I wanna add some too it but wanna lose the love handles first. Nice tat though bro, all mine are drawn by me or my friend and have personal meaning.

Haha, man, you had to tell me didn’t ya?! Would of rather went in next time confidentaly… d’oh, oh well ; )

fehu uruR tiwaR mannaR, interesting choices…

I really like this, but I’m biased. Aegishjalmur covers most of my upper back.

Had it done in '99 as part of a larger backpiece. Real… interesting sensation over the spinal area.

How about a pic?

Is that a carp/koi? May I know the story behind it? Are you a breeder?

No I’m not a breeder but I have alot of respect and interest in the Japanese culture. In Japanese culture the koi symbolizes courage, the ability to attain high goals, and overcoming life’s difficulties. At the time when I got the tattoo I was a highly motivated CPL in the USMC aiming for my next promotion no matter what it took. It fit my persona and still does to this day.

Thanks a lot, always like to know the meaning behind tats.

Can you share the significance of the runes that you chose, I think some would like to know that. I like it by the way.

Working on it. The camera-guy is oh-so-busy these days…

Looks good to me.

Don’t forget to keep it clean, and try not to let it scab up too much.
